I currently hold a non imm O A visa that’s been extended each year for 3 years now on the basis of retirement.

I also have a dependant child (my daughter with my Thai partner) who is 10 years old and lives with me

Is it possible to change the extension of my Visa in October from retirement to dependant child? Or will I need to apply address for a new non imm visa?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about changing their non-immigrant O-A visa extension from retirement to dependent child status due to having a Thai child. Comments indicate that if the user has parental rights recognized, they can potentially change the visa type without needing to apply for a new one, but they should verify with local immigration authorities for the specific documentation required.

Yes, your name on the birth certificate isn’t enough if your child was born outside of marriage. As the child is over seven years old you can (as Robert said) go to the Amphur and register yourself/get the necessary paperwork. I would go to your local immigration office first though, make your intentions clear and ask them for an exact list of documents that they would want to see in order for you to apply.

Yes. I have the rights. But it’s good advice that I get the precise requirements of my local IO (Hua Hin)

You're on an Extension of Stay, if you have the parental rights of your daughter, which you get from Amphur or Family court you can change to an Extension of Stay based on having a half Thai child.

Correct, visit the Immigration Office for the hand out with requirements and than apply. Financially is the same as married to a Thai national, 2 months prior application minimum 400.000 Thb on a Thai bank account on your name, OR the income affidavit from your Embassy with minimum 40.000 Thb income from abroad OR 12 months foreign deposits of minimum 40.000 Thb into your Thai bank account if your Embassy does not provide the affidavit or minimum 40.000 Thb salary made inside Thailand with proof of work permit and tax documents.

Thanks so much. Yes I already have parental rights. So All I need to do is apply on that basis, come the time, and meet whatever the dependant requirements are, financially and documentation wise?
