I will do my first 90-day report in Bangkok (since moving here in September) at the end of this month. Then I will ask for a residence certificate. Then I will renew my driver's licenses. How long does it usually take to receive the residence certificate? Is there an express/next day service like in Chiang Mai? How long is the wait in the DLT app? Should I make an appointment now or wait until I get the residence certificate? Anything I can do to reduce the time I'm driving on expired licenses would be great. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the processing time for a residence certificate in Bangkok following their first 90-day report. They are interested in whether there is an express service, the potential wait times using the DLT app, whether to make an appointment prior to receiving the residence certificate, and options to minimize the duration of driving with expired licenses. Comments from the community indicate varying experiences with the speed of obtaining the certificate, noting quick processes at local offices, potential delays via mail, and experiences related to driver's license renewals.

I did this at CW but it was 2 years ago. They said by mail it will be 2 weeks for 200 baht. Or one hour for 1000 baht.

Both times it took me around 15 minutes, and a few 100 baht, to get residence certificate from local Tourist Police office

I got them when I renewed my original 2-year Thai licenses which I got in Pattaya 7 years ago. The process there is much easier than in Bangkok.

Nice! You’ve been here for a good minute! 👍 I saw that you were doing your first 90 day report so I assumed you are new here like me! 😆

Yes, my 5-year Thai licenses expired a few months ago.

oh wow! How did you manage to obtain one?

If they require you to get it by mail it's usually 2-3 weeks (no idea why).

Hopefully someone with firsthand experience in Bangkok can chime in.

please what visa have you got as your TM30 and certificate of residence should already be done for a retirement or married visa.

I used to get my residence certificate on the Immigration Sisaket within 5 minutes.
