Can I avoid inconveniencing my landlord with TM-30 reporting in Thailand by speaking to a different immigration officer?

Hello. I just moved to Lamphun and I am having some TM-30 reporting issues. The immigration office here is demanding that our landlord physically go to the immigration office to complete my TM-30. They already called her twice and we completed TM-30 paper work online and a paper copy. So my question is: If I speak with a different immigration officer, could I maybe avoid inconveniencing my landlord by needing them to go to the office?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is facing TM-30 reporting issues in Lamphun, Thailand, primarily due to the requirement for their landlord to appear in person at the immigration office. There are suggestions from the community to resolve the situation, including having the landlord register online, providing necessary documentation to the immigration office personally, and clarifying the responsibilities and fines associated with TM-30 filings. Some users note the inconsistency of immigration practices, where speaking to a different officer could possibly yield different results regarding the need for the landlord's physical presence.

Hi, from my experience my land lord did the TM30 by mail and it took more than 10 days! On the other hand I went to the immigration office along signed copy of the land lord ID + house registration stating that the documents is for my TM30 + the rental agreement + my passport.

It's all done on the same day. Try to go again to the immigration office with these documents.

All the best

What The IO told you is total rubbish.

The landlord is responsible to register you within 24 hours unless the office is closed - then on the day it opens again.

Of course they have not thought that through because many landlords either live in a different city/province or even a different country. The landlord might be sick in hospital. In the absence of the landlord - the application, a signed copy of the housebook and ID card/ passport plus phone number is enough to get your TM30. But in this case I would insist the landlord shows up to register you otherwise you might end up paying the fine for her.

Im sorry but you are somewhat contradicting yourself. If it is rubbish, how could they impose a fine on the landlord? Anyways...., we submitted online exactly what you mentioned: 1. Housebook. 2. Thai National ID. 3. Phone number which was called and answered twice by the owner who spoke with the IO. Also my passport and TM6. What is concerning me is the "receipt of notification." Some people are saying I don't need it, but I think they are on a different visa type or something?

@Casey *******
you will need it whenever you need an extension from immigration - in Chiang Mai at least - no extension without the TM30. They could impose a fine because the registration was not done within the 24 hour timeframe. And if you submitted all the documents in copy you mentioned they should have given you the receipt of notification -that’s at the bottom of the application. Maybe they are just trying to be difficult who knows? Maybe the landlord argued with them on the phone. The problem here -like with so many others I met at immigration- is that it is the landlords responsibility to register you but many landlords don’t even know about it or simply just don’t care.

Check this out: I just remember that I am going to be extending at the Chiang Mai Immigration office because I will be on a one year ED visa with a language school in Chiang Mai. And since the Chiang Mai immigration office never gives me any grief, I could expect that maybe they would not mind if I lacked the receipt/slip. I could simply prove to them that I fell short of having my land lord go the the immigration office in Lamphun to get the receipt/slip for me. And for the record, my landlords are just busy with a young family and running 2 businesses. I really just cant justify bothering them anymore than I already have. And I say that I may be able to get away with not having the receipt/slip because of this article:

this article is nonsense probably old - it mentions a copy of the title deed when it should be the tabian baan and departure card which does not exist anymore when you fly into Thailand. Immigration does not care if your landlord is busy the law states a foreigner must be registered within 24 hours of arrival at the residence. And no -Chiang Mai is not giving you an extension without the TM30 - like I said we just had 2 couples that where given the run around by immigration -even though they had their TM30 but because they failed to update them when they recently returned to the same address from abroad they could not get a visa extension without updating the TM30 first and had to drive from Central Festival to the airport immigration office to get it updated.

when you say TM-30, do you actually mean the receipt of notification/slip? She reported my Tm-30 online already. And regardless of what the article says, some foreigners keep telling me they get away with not having the slip when they extend.

It’s a ฿10,000 fine to the landlord if they don’t report you, let them know this for you if you don’t have the tm30 and miss your 90 day reporting it’s ฿2,000 fine for you…

Baht fine. Also if you do 90 days reporting, does this mean TM 30 is filled?

should I try to speak with someone else? or is that just being pushy? I asked to speak with someone else yesterday and she said she was the only one, which I don't believe.

@Casey *******
I am sorry, I don't know.

Get your landlord to register on the app. Give you the password and you can do TM30 online forever after. Takes two minutes
Roberto *********
@Casey *******
You can print the screenshot from the app. There's actually no requirement to have it stapled in your passport.

are you sure? doesn't immigration need to sign off on it?
Roberto *********
@Casey *******
No signing off. What's the point of the online service if you still have to visit immigration?

@Roberto ********
You are correct. I only had to go to the office after I reentered the country, but still lived in the same apartment.

@Casey *******
if it's accepted online that effectively is sign off

True. Im just wanting a "recipe of notification," because I had this in Chiang Mai. I am doing a 1 year ed visa so maybe we have different visa types and different requirements?

Is the app different from immigration.go.th? Because we already did that.

@Casey *******
I believe there is also a website but I've only ever used the app.

they probably upload to the same system anyways.

@Casey *******
Possibly. If you've already done it, why the need to go to immigration?

the immigration office needs to fill out the tm-30 slip that you staple inside of your passport.

I just had to do the same thing at CM immigration. I’ve never had to do that before.
