TLDR : Answer Summary
As a US citizen, you cannot apply for a Thai visa at just any consulate; each consulate is responsible for specific geographic areas.

No. Each one is in charge of different geographic areas.

I am aware of that, just wondering if its possible to apply to a consulate outside my region. Is it a hard rule ? Wondering if anyone had applied outside their region and had success?

Anonymous participant it's POSTED on each Thai Embassy or Consulate website in the USA to file your visa applications with the one servicing your State

Anonymous participant it is a hard rule. Furthermore, part of the application is showing proof of being in country. Most proof options are going to show an address and out your location.

DTV_BegPecker I will be in the USA so not an issue. There is some flexabity on the brokerage issue so we will see...not expecting success but given the situatuon, 50-50 chance it gets aporoved.

Anonymous participant what I meant is your proof of being in the US is usually a bill or driver’s license, etc. each of these has an address (or state) attached to it. So if you are supplying an electrical bill for a home with an address in California as your “proof”, it makes it hard to trick the NY consulate into believing you are in the northeast.

Anonieme deelnemer I read some stories about rejected applications because of wrong region.

Why should you take that risk anyway?

People applying in certain regions have had success with brokerage accounts vs.bank accounts. My region isnt one of them.

Anonieme deelnemer It is not very difficult to transfer some money to a bank account is it?

One of the visa requirements is that the money is in a bank account.

Even when you got accepted by the embassy/consulate, you might run in trouble at some later time when you do not have the money in a direct accessible bank account.

No time to let it season in a bank....have not had a bank account in 40 years.....other reasons- tax ect......gonna try something and ill report how it works out They have some flexability....We will see....

Anonieme deelnemer You can ask them if they accept without seasoning when you show the money comes from your own account. The seasoning rule is to prevent people borrowing the money for a short moment, just to get a visa.
