TLDR : Answer Summary
It is not possible to apply for a Thai visa in person at an embassy; all applications must be done online from the country of residence. Applying online from America is the recommended approach, as the process can only be completed digitally.

You can't apply at an Embassy in person.

You can not apply in Thailand, and it is best to apply in the country where most of the documentation originate from.

Scroll or search the group, that’s the shortcut to answers you need to know about before applying.

And start by reading the website of the nearest Thai Embassy.

You need to apply via an embassy/consulate, which are located around the globe, but not in Thailand. There are Immigration offices in Thailand, but they can not issue this visa(however they can extend one’s stay on this visa from 180 to 360 days). You apply for the visa online via the embassy/consulate in which you are located physically . So if you are physically in Indonesia, you apply online via the Thai embassy in Jakarta. If you are in San Diego, you apply online via consulate in Los Angeles, etc.
