Hi everyone,

Would appreciate it if I can get some advice regarding the STV. Will I be able to apply for a re-entry permit once in Thailand? Also not sure if you can answer this but will my covid insurance still be valid once I enter, leave, and then re-enter the country?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Special Tourist Visa (STV) is a single entry visa, meaning you cannot apply for a re-entry permit once you exit Thailand. Additionally, the COVID insurance must meet the necessary requirements for the entirety of your stay and may not be valid if you leave and then attempt to re-enter. It's also noted that STV has seen reduced utility, particularly for entries after specific dates, and alternatives like the standard ME Tourist Visa may be a better choice.

I heard that they are strict about handing out multiple entry tourist visas ?Do you have to prove why you want multiple entries when applying ?

, requirements and issuing process for visas depend on the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate you apply for it at. Please check with the Thai embassy/consulate in your country.

The only way you can use a health insurance policy for entry and reentry into Thailand...is to buy the correct insurance policy.

Many issued today to obtain the Thailand Pass are enter once ONLY.

STV is losing its value. If you enter after July 3 you get only 90 days (non-extendable) and no further extension available after September 30. Best to consider standard ME Tourist Visa

I was thinking of entering in may if that helps

Abdul Rehman Ahmad. May is ok, bit you'll only be able to get the one extension, so you'll get 2x90 instead of 3x90. The M/E TR visa gives you 60+30, with a potential further 60+30 if you leave and re-enter

Nope, I Special Tourist Visa is a single entry type thing and as far as I know no one who had a STV was able to get a re-entry permit exit/re-enter.

You need to have the
******
mandatory health insurance good for the 9 months that STV allows you to stay as well as meet the entry requirements to get in

I do not think you can exit/re-enter on an STV.

thanks Tod , how can I confirm this to be sure ? In that case is it just better to apply for a normal tourist visa ?

the STV is a single entry visa...use it once to enter Thailand and its done...

Only options are two extensions of 270 days each...3-3+3=9 months stay. And must leave.

NO REENTRY PERMIT USE ALLOWED WITH THE STV.

James Miller. There's no further extensions after September 30, so even if the OP entered now, he would only just get the 3x90. He's talking about coming in May which might mean he'll get only 2x90.

you can see if anyone who had a STV and is a member of this site answers your thread.

Sure just get a single entry tourist visa or a 6 month Multi Entry Tourist visa (like Bobby suggested)
