TLDR : Answer Summary
The ability to obtain a re-entry permit while on a Special Tourist Visa (STV) is a matter of debate. Some community members believe it is possible, referring to the Extension of Stay stamp, while others argue that it is not allowed, with experiences suggesting that STV holders cannot get a re-entry permit. The conversation highlights a lack of consensus, indicating that further clarification from local immigration offices may be necessary.

and just like that we're done. As you can see there is some differing of opinion on whether an STV entry stamp or extension can get a re-entry permit. ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

I can personally say I have never heard of it being done, nor have I read any post from the many many people who have had STV's mention they were able to get a re-entry permit from one. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

BUT

I also freely admit that doesn't mean it can't be done ๐Ÿ˜‰ , just that no one has tried or if they tried and were denied, they never posted about it ๐Ÿ˜›

So we wish good luck to the O/P in their endeavor

AND

ask them if you do manage to get a re-entry permit on your STV please message a mod so we can re-open the post and let everyone know (y)

I would say YES, as it is mentioned on the Extension of Stay stamp, ask your local Immigration Office and please let us know the outcome.

There is no rule that short time visa or short time Extension of Stay are exempt from a re-entry permit.

Unless I am greatly mistaken No you cannot get a re-entry permit from either the 90 day entry stamp OR either of the two 90 day extensions on an Special Tourist Visa

I believe it's a one and done sort of thing ๐Ÿ˜ฎ , you come here you stay 9 months and you leave ๐Ÿ˜•

and just in case you're contemplating applying for an STV realize that the program is set to expire on Sept 30th and there has been no announcement or even an indication that it will be continued

Also some thai consulates are already posting that anyone who entered on an STV since July will only get the 90 day entry stamp not the two 90 day extensions.

It's almost a totally up in the air thing as far as how they're gonna handle them
