Hi all. Has anyone recently extended an STV. Do you still need Thai health insurance? I have covid and health insurance via another policy non Thai based. Is this enough I wonder. Any advice appreciated. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the requirement of Thai health insurance for extending the Special Tourist Visa (STV). While some users reported successfully obtaining initial STV approval with foreign insurance, they mentioned that renewal often requires Thai insurance based on the immigration regulations. One user advised using a specific insurance provider recommended by immigration officials. Additionally, there were comments about difficulties in contacting local immigration offices for further inquiries.
ahh big thanks to you Tracy ๐๐๐ that would really help a lot since I've tried to call on various phone numbers for the past 3 days to my local immigration office, and so far no luck, they didn't pick up the call..
hi. I extended my STV today successfully. I provided my property lease papers, my original insurance which I purchased in the UK. Vaccine certification, TM7, TM2, two photos.
Yesterday I purchased Tune health insurance (Thai) in order to extend. I leave Thailand on April 5, so took insurance out up to this date only, at the cost of 2780 bhat.
I wasnโt sure immigration would go with this but they did. They stamped my passport til April 5 as per my insurance and request. Some immigration offices are requiring the full 90 day health insurance to extend an STV, but that wasnโt the case for me.
I hope that helps. I think I have put down everything you need. Good luck ๐ค๐พ๐๐ป

Yes I did show them that but they gave it back to me
hi! Thank you for the answer!:) Congrats on your successful extension! They didn't you ask anything about the ASQ certificate or a receipt?? Just to show it as a proof that you have completed quarantine.
if your staying longer than the 90 days I did see a policy called I-pass not tune I pass, itโs for a year & itโs about the same price as the 90 day policy. Worth a look๐
