Dear Visa-Advice. I am on a non-immi "O" one year extention based on retirement. During Corona times I did not get a re-entry. Now I have to go to Italy for a week. I do want to get the re-entry at the Korat immigration, NOT at the airport. My extention runs out Oct 31,2022.
I play with the idea to get the new extention and the re-entry in one visit.
QUESTION: Can I renew my extention 6 weeks before the actual expiration date. Or will I need two trips to the immigration, one for the re-entry and one for the new extention when I am back from Italy ? TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user with a non-immigrant "O" visa extension based on retirement seeks advice on whether they can renew their extension 6 weeks before its expiration, while also obtaining a re-entry permit during a visit to Thailand's Korat immigration office before a trip to Italy. Comments suggest checking with the local immigration office about early renewal policies and the possibility of securing both the extension and re-entry permit in one visit.

Suggest that you ask your Thai immigration office IF they will ALLOW you to get your one year extension of stay as retired 45 days before the current stamp expires in October. Many offices do allow it... AND IF you show proof of your flight departing Thailand they may ALLOW you to get the one year extension of stay early.
MANY Thai immigration offices will ALLOW you to apply for the One year extension of stay within the 45 days before it expires. Ask yours... AND the flight ticket may help if your office ONLY allows the extension to be applied for within the 30 days PRIOR to your extension expiration date
