Hello, I need advice about the first extension (after the first 90 days) of a non immigrant O visa (volunteer).

I'll get the visa on the 17th of October , the first 90 days would be gone around the middle of January and I have to fly back to my home country from the 10th of December and I'll be back here on the 11th of January , can I get a re-entry permit before the 1st extension ? And is it possible to apply for the 1st extension before I leave on the 10th of December ?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the feasibility of obtaining a re-entry permit and applying for their first extension of a Non-Immigrant O visa prior to leaving Thailand for a short trip. The response clarifies that the ability to apply for the extension is dependent on the initial stay date indicated on the visa, noting that an application can be made 30 days before the expiration of the initial 90-day period. Additionally, it confirms that a re-entry permit can be purchased before departure to retain the same admission date upon returning.

It all depends on the date that you get on arrival as admitted to stay date. You can apply 30 days before that day for Extension of Stay at local Immigration. You can buy the re-entry permit and on return you will get the same Admitted to stay date as you got on your arrival with the visa. Without information when you arrive to calculate the 90 days stay I can not give you more info than this.

Okay thanks for your suggestion Robert , I might go and ask at the immigration when I get back from HK that I have to go anyways to do the TM30

Most of the Immigration offices only allow you 30 days before last day, some, and afaik Chang Mai allows 45 days before. Your best bet is just visit Immigration Office before you leave, take all the papers with you for Extension of Stay including your flight out and back in. And apply for it, if they have no problem you get it, otherwise you will only get the re-entry permit and have to apply again between 11 Jan and last day of admitted to stay.

But on the 16th of December I'll be already out of Thailand , as I was reading on another post of a few days ago if I prove them with flight tickets that I'm not here after the 10th of December and I'm not back before the 11th of January they should extend it anyway right ?

I'll be back in CM on the 18th of October with the non immigrant O visa , so it's supposed to be on the 16th of January I guess
