Hello everyone.

I would like to please ask about applying for a Marriage-O Visa (90 days single entry)

If I am here on a 30-day visa exempt stamp, can I apply for it within Thailand itself to transition onto it without leaving, or do I need to exit, apply in a neighbouring country and re-enter on it after approval?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about applying for a Marriage-O Visa while currently on a 30-day visa exempt stamp in Thailand. Responses indicated that it's possible to apply for the visa at a local Immigration Office without exiting Thailand, provided certain conditions are met, including having at least 15 days remaining on the current stamp and maintaining a minimum of 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account. Alternatively, another option mentioned was to apply at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos for a simpler application process.

OR you go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and you can get that 90 day single entry Non-O visa for 2000baht with minimal documentation and no proof of funds. ๐Ÿ˜›

they are a walk up consulate (no appt needed) and you get the visa back the next business day afternoon ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh... So I could do that, come back into Thailand, then only look to place the 400k funds instead 2 months prior to the extension only? That makes it easier for me I think due to the less time frame I need to hold the funds in my bank.

@Nicko *****
correct, go get that visa, come back bank the funds, wait the 2 months apply for the year extension :)

Go to your immigration office with your thai wife and get the hand out listing the requirements to apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa for 2000baht

You will need 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only to apply AND you will need a minimum number of days left on your current stamp (most offices want at least 15 days left on the stamp to apply for the in country Non-O)

@Tod ********
Is that 400k bank deposit required for the initial single 90-day application, or just the year extension?

If the first visa application, does it still need to be in a bank 2 months prior? Thanks

@Nicko *****
the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only IS required to get the initial 90 day Non-O visa although i don't know any office that requires it be seasoned for 2 months for just the 90 day Non-O

You need to talk to your office well before you're going to apply so you know what you need and how it will work at that office

You apply at your local Immigration Office, just go there and ask the hand out with requirements. Copy them and tick the list, when done visit again to apply.
