Has anyone applied for DTV with a joint bank account? Do I need to be the main account holder? I’ve tried to email the Los Angeles consulate but no response.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the use of a joint bank account when applying for a DTV visa at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. Community members share conflicting information regarding the requirements: while some suggest that if using a joint account, the funds must total double the 500,000 baht requirement, others mention that providing proof of relationship may be enough. One commenter advises against relying on email communication with the consulate, suggesting a phone call instead. There is also mention of expected wait times for responses from the consulate.
UPDATE: They ended up responding and said I just need to provide a document to show proof of relationship (birth certificate or marriage certificate) but this isn’t what I’ve heard from actual applicants. Not sure if it’s worth it to just try anyways 🤞🏼

I asked the local Thai Consulate they indicated need double the 500,000 baht if joint account, although normally in Canada, the funds are accessible by either account holder

I remember one post on a group that tried a joint account and they were told at the consulate they needed DOUBLE the require 500K because only half the funds in the account were theirs 😛 So they needed a bank account with a million baht in it (which thankfully they had)

Don't bother using e-mail to the consulate. Phone them.

Await your decision from the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles.
Likely that they will either accept a bank account TWICE the 500,000 Thai baht balance or require a single bank account in the name of the applicant for the DTV visa.
Then again...it might accept the joint held Bank account.
We wish you success...
