Hi, I already got my DTV and now my wife would like to apply as a dependent. I understood that she won’t have to provide all the document I had to provide but only mention she is applying as a dependent. She has more than 500k but the thing is it’s on a joint account with her mom (both names appears on the bank account statements), will it work for the application?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the application process for their wife to apply as a dependent on their DTV visa. They mention that while they believe she won't need to provide as many documents, they have concerns regarding their joint bank account with her mother. Commenters suggest providing necessary documents such as a marriage certificate, spouse's visa, and financial proof. They mention that having funds in a joint account may require more than double the amount, but there are conflicting opinions on whether she can use the same funds from her husband’s bank account.

No idea how it will be handled at the embassy she will apply at but normally in Thailand if you have money in a joint account you need double the amount. Saying that I've also seen suggestions that she could use the same money (your bank statements) as you being your dependant. Only way to find out is to ask the relevant embassy

If you think it is not applicable with joint account, , pls produce your sponsorship letter to her with your own statements. Good luck.

Provide marriage certificate, your visa, her passport, and her own bank acct./or joint account with you.

My husband and I have a joint account that we recently combined before we applied. And that worked out.

did you have to provide your original marriage certificate or was a copy sufficient?

if you're doing it in person, always provide the original. Online, just scan the original doc and send.

thanks for the info. I'm not in the same country as the original cert. Will have to have to try with just a copy of it.
