Do I need to show 500,000 THB in my bank account for 3 months for the DTV visa application?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in Thailand on a 60-day entry permit and planning to apply for the DTV visa soon. I have a quick question I hope someone here can help me with:

Do the required 500,000 THB (~13,000 EUR) need to be in my bank account continuously for 3 months, or is it sufficient to show a current bank statement with that amount and a history of regular activity (e.g., salary payments, transactions)?

I’m a bit unsure about the exact requirement and would really appreciate your input.

Also open to using a visa service if anyone has good recommendations! 😊

Thanks a lot in advance & warm greetings from Thailand 🇹🇭

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for demonstrating financial stability when applying for a DTV visa in Thailand can vary significantly depending on the embassy. Generally, there seems to be consensus that showing a minimum of 500,000 THB in your bank account for at least 3 months is a common mandate. However, some users reported that a recent bank statement reflecting this amount could suffice, especially if accompanied by a history of regular transactions. It's essential to check the specific requirements of the embassy where you plan to apply, as some may request longer periods, such as 6 months. Many suggest consulting with a reliable visa agency to assist in the application process.

No need to have it for 3 months in HCMC (fyi in case you're open to going to Vietnam to apply). I transferred it to my account a week before I applied.

Latest 3 months should suffice

The money don't need to be in 1 bank account, it can be multiple accounts, just it's in your name

Depends on which embassy but the more evidence you show, the more likely you will be approved!

eg minimum requirements 500k baht in bank.

1) show 500k latest bank monthly statement

2) show 500k in last
***
months of statement

3) show 1 million baht in last 6 months

which do you think they like better?

Depends on the Embassy. I applied in France and there was no need to have the money for months before.

I got approved in 5 days in Paris… missing document took 24h to complete. I was suprised! But it was in march. I guess july/august is slow because a part of the staff is off for summer holiday.

Go for agency that is so sure of what they are doing that they will allow you to pay when they get the visa - please let me know their details !

It depends on the embassy you're applying at. Some even want 6 months. I also applied while in thailand. Which is a lot harder then doing it in your home country or another country you are staying at for a while. I have an agent i used that did all the work for me and ensured it went smoothly. They also paid for the hotels while I was in Malaysia and the visa was processing. The line ID is Successvisa789 ask for bee.

Depends where you're applying from but mostly if you're applying in Southeast Asia prepare to show at least 3 months of 500K that said, if you had a substantial balance and you ended up topping it up in the last month that would probably work too for instance if you had two three 400k and topped it up to 500 in the final statement but again you'll have to review the posts on the specific Embassy you're going to be applying at.

It is embassy specific.

Contact the embassy you will be applying to for their requirements.

Ive heard people have submitted a single month showing the 500k Baht and been approved. Then others have been told by the embassy they have applied to that they need to show 3-months and others have been asked for 6-months. Check the website of the embassy you plan on going through.

A. Nony Mous The OP is asking about the 500K balance, yes I have seen embassies request the latest months statement and 3 months statement with an ongoing 500k, but never a 6 month statement. Embassies have requested 6 months statement to review the account activity but not because they wanted the 500k to be in there all that time.

@Wannikea ********
I think Malaysia is the only one that requires 6 months seasoning of the 500k.

Vientiane requested 6 months
