Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before but in regards to DTV visa and the 500k baht bank balance.

I’ve seen conflicting answers to how long needs to show in your bank account. Varying between just current balance up to 6 months and also that it depends on which country you’re visiting the embassy in.

Can anyone help on this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa requires a bank balance of 500,000 baht, but the duration for which this amount must be held can vary. Some sources indicate it needs to be a current balance, while others suggest it should be shown for up to 6 months. Additionally, the specifics may differ based on the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country. It’s crucial to check the exact requirements of the embassy where you plan to apply.

You answered your own question. How long have your funds seasoned so far?

There's NO one answer to your question.

It entirely depends on the requirements listed on the Thai Embassy or Consulate website where you will be making application.

What is your passport nation?

Where are you now?

Where will you be applying for the DTV visa?

okay thank you very much for the reply.

British national, currently in Koh Samui (not sure if this makes a difference, but have been in Thailand for 6 years always with work visa and permit looked after by my work but after a career change I no longer have that option).

Where I will apply most likely depends on finding the answer to my question.

thank you very much for all of this. Very helpful. You and Tod both always do such a good job.

I’ve had a career change and will be working remotely but obviously need to sort out a long term visa as Thailand has become very much home now.

Correct, UK passport and based in Samui. I haven’t held the 500k in one account which has been the prompt for my question.

Planning my trip for where and when depending.

the 500,000 or more Thai baht or its equivalent, can be in multiple bank accounts, if they are in your name only.

it does make a difference. Thank you for your helpful reply.

For what purpose will you be applying for the DTV visa?

How long have you held a Bank account balance, in your name only, of 500,000 Thai baht or more ?

You hold a passport from the UK and now in Koh Samui.

Hi
@Ch***
, sadly you can not apply whilst in Thailand. You must be located outside of Thailand at the time of your application.

yes absolutely. That’s what I was hoping but I what I read about funds being in bank account for 6 months prior was related to Malaysia. No idea if this is correct or not. Trying to find the info on the embassy website.
