TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand and is unsure about applying for a DTV visa from Malaysia, as applying from within Thailand is not permitted. Comments suggest mixed experiences, with some advising against Malaysia and others highlighting alternatives like Indonesia, Laos, and Cambodia. Key points also mention that applications can be done online, and it's essential to stay in the application country until the visa is granted.

Application is done online. Doesn't matter where you are now as long as you have a permanent residential address in the country of application n fulfill the conditions.

I was in Thailand n apply thru Singapore Thai embassy, providing all my documents, appt letter from Singapore co., bank statement.

May I know how many days it took to approve from the day you submitted?

I submitted my application on 9Jan . Approved on 5 Feb. In between they requested me to explain why I have a Thai bank account. After my explanation email, the visa was approved in 3 days. Hope this helps.

I have no idea of your nationality but if you’re Israeli then definitely not. Many other countries passport holders could but from reports on here it’s not a “best choice” of embassy/consulate to do so.

Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam are all alternatives that you may want to consider. You need to stay in whatever country you apply from until the visa is granted or you’ll risk the application being denied.

Thank you for the clarification 🙏 I’m from Morocco and a resident of the UAE, so that part doesn’t apply to me. I’ll definitely consider Laos, Cambodia, or Vietnam as alternatives. Also appreciate the note about staying in the country from & until the visa is granted very useful to know.

Do you want me to make a shorter version just stating Morocco/UAE clearly, or keep this detailed one?

And as always, chances are best when you apply from the normal way for a visa in your home country or the country where you are permanent residence.

Visa tourism like you plan to do can work, but has some disadvantages like the local embassies are less familiar with documents from your home country.
