Ok, so I came with tourist visa on January 20th, valid until march 20th. A few days ago I extended it for 30 days, valid until april 19th. But I would like to stay, in fact, until may. Could I ask for a Covid extension before march 25th (deadline) or will I be rejected because It is too premature??? Thank you very much for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about extending their stay in Thailand beyond their tourist visa expiration date of April 19th by applying for a Covid extension before the March 25th deadline. The discussion revealed differing views on whether it's too early to apply. Responses suggested that it might be possible to apply early and that the Covid extension would provide additional days based on the application date. Various user experiences and interpretations of the extension process were shared, emphasizing the need to consult with the immigration office directly.

From my understanding, unlike the 30 day extension that starts when your visa expires, the covid extension starts on the day you apply, so essentially you would only gain about five days from when your 30 day extension now expires. The covid extension does not start when your 30 day extension expires. That is my understanding of how the covid extension works.

You should just be able to squeeze it in. Go to immigration on March 25 and try your luck. Worse case scenario is you'll still have up until April 19 to organise a weekender in Phnom Penh.

are people able to pull off a weekend in PP? My last trip out, visa, thaipass, all that had taken quite a bit longer than 1 weekend.

That’s going to be up to the immigration office you use. They may let you. They may not. Only way to know for sure is to go there and ask.

Can always ask, sometimes 30 days prior
