Can I apply again for a Covid visa extension in Thailand after receiving a 30-day extension?

[Covid extension question] I just was granted a visa extension for covid reason but they only gave me 30 days (I was told we could apply for 60 days so that’s what I wrote on the form)…

So my question is, can I apply again for another 30 days?

Should I’ve done or provided something else in order to get a longer extension?

I know covid extensions are up on May 24 but I will need to extend on May 19, so I’m hoping I can do that one last time before a visa run is required.

FYI: I entered with a 30-day visa exemption, then extended for 30 days. Then extended for covid reason, for another 30 days.

TIA

What type of letter did you get from your embassy?
Stuart *********
@Caroline *****
95% (a made up number) of embassies won’t issue such letters. A printout of an email from them saying they won’t or a screenshot of their website which states they won’t will suffice if asked. Very few offices ask for it these days as they know most embassies won’t issue them.

oh ok great thanks! Is it Chattawaenga immigration office i need to go to?

@Caroline *****
depends how you entered. If on a tourist visa (or any other visa) then yes counter J. If visa exempt then it’s IT Square Laksi Plaza. 3rd floor counter K.

Can anyone advise me on what forms I need for my Covid extension? I understand what photo copies I need. But the forms, TM7 and…? Any help appreciated

@James *******
I'm not sure you will be able to apply after the 25th. I know they've extended it before, though.

There are 2 more forms for covid extensions, they're available next to the other one at immigration and there are examples how to fill them in taped to the wall. You can ask the first or second screening desk and they're give you the forms too.

Covid reason??? What, you have COVID?? They don't have flights to your country due to COVID??
Thomas *************
Thailand economy is going through a hardship at the moment. They don't want to lose the precious foreign cash inflows from tourists at a time THB hitting new lows at 34 against USD. In reality Thailand is using covid extension as a cover to keep those wishing to stay longer, they could simply remove the term "covid" and call it; 60-days visa extension. These extensions will phase-out only when they have steady tourist arrivals not due to covid19 no longer being a pandemic or epidemic.

Which immigration office, Bangkok?

You've probably got a 30-day under consideration stamp. Can you post a picture of the stamp?

,
@Stuart ********
, 30 days under consideration is very common for 60 days "Covid extension". Same for marriage extension. Maybe read some posts in Thai visa advice group ?
Stuart *********
@Peter ***************
30 days under consideration is the norm for a marriage extension . It certainly isn’t the norm for a Covid extension. I’ve seen them range from 3 days to 15 days from many offices around the country. In Phuket it changed from week to week. Some people got the full 60 days, some 5 days, some 14 days.

I rarely visit there these days. Many of the mods are just too power hungry.

Sorry, May 19th

oh I see, it's just time consuming to go back again but fine then

@Martial ********
It is time consuming but you have to remember the covid extension is a concession, it's not a standard process, so more complicated procedures are often instigated. Some people are asked to show flight tickets leaving the country. When you apply for a covid extension you basically have to adhere to the conditions.

@Bobby *******
ok thank you for the explanation, it's understandable. I'll give it a try early enough in case I have to exit the country
Bobby ********
@Martial ********
You have to go on the day given. You can't go earlier.
Martial *********

@Bobby *******
Oh! I was told that in Thailand we could go to immigration earlier and they will still extend starting from the expiration date. At least I heard that for Chiang Mai immigration.
Bobby ********
@Martial ********
That's if you're applying for an extension, but you're saying you already have. You can't apply for another extension whilst you're still under consideration for one which is pending
Bobby ********
@Martial ********
As I suspected. You go back to immigration on 13 May and you'll get the extra 30 days no charge

@Bobby *******
- any idea if you get the 30 days ‘under consideration’ on Covid extension is it just a formality that you get the additional 30 days when you go back? Or is it possible you’re asked additional questions at that point? Thanks
Bobby ********
@Susie ********
I've not heard of anyone being declined when they return. I believe it's a formality, but immigration always like to "retain the right"
Garrett ***********
@Bobby *******
Under

-consideration stamps are normally 15 days, haven't seen any 30 day ones.
Stuart *********
@Garrett **********
Not seen a 30 day one either, which is why I didn’t think of it in the first place. Obviously IT Square are doing them.
Stuart *********
@Bobby *******
good point. Didn’t think of that.
Mark ***********
@Stu***
, it may be a 30-day Under Consideration because you applied more than a month before your expiry? I think I've had that once.
Stuart *********
Covid extensions are at the discretion of the immigration office(r). we've seen some similar reports of people only getting 30 days. what office did you use?
Martial *********

@Stuart ********
I went to Laksi IT Square mall. I actually looked at the form sample displayed on the wall, and they wrote 60 days as an example, and "Covid-19" as a reason. no further explanation. So I just recopied that.
Martial *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
ok I will try then
Stuart *********
@Martial ********
no idea then. The usual extension is for 60 days. Perhaps the officer was having a bad hair day.

There shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t apply again before may 24th.

hey Stuart, I have anotther question related to that post here. I was planning to go to immigration in the next few days to get another stamp for my covid extension (it's up on May 19) but now I just tested positive for Covid! 🤯

I've read stories in the group where people overstayed due to covid but still got fined and blacklisted, or got problem getting back into the country. What can I do to prevent that? Can I send someone or an agent to extend for me?
Stuart *********
@Martial ********
extensions must be done in person. If you’re in hospital they can arrange a medical extension, but if not you’d need to find an agent who could help. Contact Thai Visa Centre and see what they can do.

@Stuart ********
you go back after 30 days and they stamp your passport for another 30 days, they don't give you a 60 day stamp. That's what happens at Jomtien.
