Covid extension and tourist visa.

Good evening to all

Actually I've my normal 30 days tourist visa extension available until the 5th March, I would like to stay in Thailand until the 5th April or a little bit more.

What is the best moment to apply for covid extension, should I wait 1 week before the end of my visa or can I already apply now ?

If the extension is denied, does it cancel the visa and oblige to leave the country in a week or the visa is still available until its end ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on the timing for applying for a COVID extension on their 30-day tourist visa, which is valid until March 5. They wonder if they should apply now or wait until closer to the expiration date, and what the implications are if their extension is denied.

Im trying to ask differently:

- my visa is available until the 5th March

- if im going the 12th February for a covid extension and it's denied, does i have one week to leave the country or my visa is still available until the 5th March?

If IO accepts your application and stamps you, you will have 7days to leave from the application day.

Usually, they wouldn't do it and just turn you away without accepting the documents, your stamp is still valid until the last day in March. But to make sure, you can 'ask' them if you can apply for it verbally first. Your current stamp is not touched and still is valid as it is, even if they say no.

Ok thanks, i will wait until the last week before applying the extension !

Most offices will date your first covid extension from the date you apply, so probably best to leave it until a couple of days before your existing stamp expires.

You can apply during the last 30 days of your stay, but be aware if your application is denied, the stamp will be not approved and 7 days from application day to leave the country.

Always have a plan B ready.
