Good Morning!🤗 I’ve seen this on Facebook and just wanted to know if my understanding is right. Does this mean that, when I go to immigration until 25th of January, I will get the Covid extension for 60 days (end of March)?!? Actually I came to Thailand on 7th of October with TV, this week I’ll go for the extension of 30 days, so the 90 days of my ‚holiday‘ will end at the beginning of January…

Thanks in Advance and have a nice day!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about the potential for receiving a 60-day Covid extension for their Thai visa if they apply before January 25, 2022. According to community responses, the extension must be applied for when the current visa or stay permit expires. The Covid extension is not guaranteed, and there are concerns regarding overstaying if the application is not submitted before the current permitted stay period ends, which is at the beginning of January.

Is this official now? Not sure whether to go and get my extension tomorrow - any idea what they mean by stricter rules?

That means there would be the chance to APPLY for an extension based on being unable to travel due to Covid until 25 Jan 2022. You applying for a Covid extension does not mean you will be granted that extension.

Also, that does NOT mean you are fine to stay until 25 Jan. Once your current 'permitted/admitted to staying until date' (seems to be early Jan at the latest) passes, you are on overstay.

You will need to submit a 60 Day Extension of Stay based on Unable to Travel due to COVID-19 in early January when your "permitted to" stamp expires. The 60 days will begin on the date you apply for the extension of stay. However, this is an optional extension of stay and the immigration office does not need to grant the extension of stay to you.
