My 60-day tourist visa expires on April 4th. Can I apply for a 30-day visa extension then a 60-day covid extension (which expires on March 25th) or is the 30-day visa extension the only possibility for me?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the possibility of applying for a 30-day visa extension after their 60-day tourist visa expires on April 4th, alongside a 60-day COVID extension that is contingent on the government's decision to extend its application period. The responses clarified that a 30-day extension can be applied for if there are at least 30 days remaining on the visa, and there may still be an opportunity to apply for the 60-day COVID extension, depending on government decisions around March 25.

>Can I apply for a 30-day visa extension

You can apply for a 30 day extension of stay when you have at least 30 days remaining on your current "admitted to" stamp (45 days remaining for some immigration office).

>then a 60-day covid extension (which expires on March 25th)

If you apply for the 30 day extension of stay, you would be able to stay until May 3rd. Depending on the immigration office, you *MAY* be able to apply for the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 if you're within the 45 day time period. HOWEVER...

1. That extension of stay is optional, and does not need to be granted AND;

2. That extension of stay begins on the date you apply for it. If you apply for it on March 25th, and it's approved, then you can only stay until May 24th.

So, I can technically apply for an extension of stay on March 5th then again the covid extension on March 25 and, if approved, be allowed to stay until May 25?

For the covid one I would do it a day or so before March 25 as all offices will be busy on March 25. Also, not all offices start the covid extension from the date of approval. Phuket offices for example start from the date of expiry of existing visa/visa exemption (or extension thereto). (note: some commentators here will say that if it is your first covid extension it always will start from the date of approval, but this now not common - it normally runs from the date of expiry of your current status, as it did for me and many others I know in Phuket recently) So, if so, theoretically you could be approved to stay until early June following that procedure.

Yes. BUT... it's not something I would assume would be issued to you. I would assume it's a bonus, and not something that would be granted automatically

The 30-day extension will take you through to May 3. Whether you can apply for a covid extension depends on whether the government extends the application period beyond March 25. If they do it will probably end on May 23, in which case you most probably will be able to. However, this won't be known until on or about March 25
