Am currently in Samui on a 2 month tourist visa. My intention is to extend this for another 30 days but I’d heard it is possible to apply for a 90 day tourist visa while I’m here? I heard something but not quite sure if I’ve misheard or if I’m asking the right question. Appreciate advice thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 2-month tourist visa in Thailand and is seeking to know if they can apply for a 90-day tourist visa while in the country. Responses indicate that there is no 90-day tourist visa available within Thailand and clarify that the tourist visa cannot be converted or extended to a longer duration without leaving the country. to get a 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 you'd have to bank 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only

Most people go down that route when they're staying here long term,

now you're straying WAY of the scope of the visa advice group

Post on a group related to where you live and ask that question.

No, you heard wrong or lost in translation.

Because 1. there is no tourist visa available inside Thailand. 2. There is no 90-day tourist visa if you mean being approved (stamped) for 90 days stay at once.

You MIGHT be confusing tourist visas with some types of Non-immigrant visas for 90 days that can be applied at the local immigration office if you meet the requirements.

Like many things - understanding the question is half the answer !!

I’m over 50 single and maybe the retirement option is best

Thanks - I’m sure I missed something - it was a type o non immigration visa I think? Not sure what requirements there are

@David *******
, there are several Non-Imm visas. Requirements depend on the types (Non-O, Non-B, Non-ED, etc) of visa or reason for Non-O. Major Non-O visas are based on: Married to a Thai, retirement, raising a Thai child.
