Can I apply for a 90-day Non-O marriage visa from Savannakhet after being refused a 60-day extension?

I was refused a 60 day extension for visiting my Thai wife at my local immigration office on my one year Non-O. I now have 8 days until my visa expires. Can I still book an online appointment at Savannakhet to get a 90 day Non-O marriage visa from them? If not where can I go to acquire one while I wait 60 days for my 400,000 to mature (I was silly and kept it in our joint account).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user was denied a 60-day extension for their Non-O visa and is seeking options for obtaining a 90-day Non-O marriage visa. It's clarified that they cannot apply in-person at Savannakhet due to eVisa requirements. They can apply for a new Non-O visa from a Thai consulate in a neighboring country, provided they meet financial proof requirements. Additionally, some suggestions for applying in Thailand are offered, including potential options if the application is rejected.

Okay lets put this slow motion train wreck of a thread to bed 😮 😛 😜

The O/P does NOT have a Non-O VISA, not at all

They are on a yearly extension of stay FROM a year-long Non-O visa they got in 2023

They got a year-multi visa from Savannakhet in 2023, they bounced out and back every 90 days for the whole year. They took the final 90 day entry stamp from that Non-O

AND

while on that stamp they also took the 60 day visit thai family extension

THEN after that

they applied for the year extension of stay based on marriage (which is the stamp they're on now)

That is why the immigration office won't give them another 60 day visit family extension, <-because the O/P's stamps are "daisy chained" from the the last 90 day entry on the Non-O WITH a 60 day family extension and then with the year extension <- and because you can only get a visit family extension once on a series of attached stamps (Non-O/extension). They burned the one they were allowed last year getting it before they got the year extension they're on now

They have no choice but to go to a thai consulate in another country, apply for a NEW Non-O visa based on marriage then come in and wait the 2 months for the funds to season to apply for the new year extension at their immigration office

As far as Savannakhet requiring 2 months seasoning on 90 day Non-O that I cannot say, all they can do is apply and it'll either go thru or get rejected.

If it's rejected they could come in visa exempt on a 60 day stamp. Then they could go to their immigration office in Korat and apply for the 90 day Non-O in country (I do not believe Korat requires 2 month seasoning on 90 day Non-O visas based on marriage)

OR

they could wait 2 months and slog back to Savannakhet to get a 90 day Non-O there once their funds were seasoned (if the 2 month rule is required for 90 day Non-O)

Sorry to have "slammed" the thread closed but it was starting to come off the rails and as soon as I went to message the O/P I saw that we had talked last year when they got their year extension 🙂

I wish good luck to the O/P, one way or another they'll get thru this, get a new Non-O and their year extension (y)

Thanx one and all for the comments too 🙂

why was the 60 days refused?

Thank you. This is why I am baffled and now in a panic after saving 400k hard for a year just needing a little more time to have my funds season in my account and not my joint account.

, If you have already used a 60-day family visit extension with the current series of visa and extensions, you cannot apply for it again. 60-day family visit extension is a one-time deal per visa.

I have not used an extension with my current Non-O marraige visa.

@Karl *******
, don't you have a 1-year stamp until july 8, 2025, after using a 60-day family visit extension last year?

@Ellie ******
This is true. Last year my 60 day stamp ran May 13th until July 14th. Could it be because I’m asking for another one inside one year all bar a week or so. Though, they should have then given me a one year extension from July 14th and not July 8th?
Ellie *******
@Karl *******
, when did you apply exactly for a new 90 days Non-O visa, then when and how many time of following 1-year extensions?

@Ellie ******
I’ve never applied for a 90 day Non-O. This is why I am very unsure how to go about it. I have for the last three years had a Non-O marraige visa and only on my previous Non-O did I ask for a 60 day extension.

I have no idea. The office in Korat has often had a bad attitude with me and my wife for no good reason. They just said you can only extend one time and refused me. As far as I was aware every Non O marriage visa at the 12 month mark before it expires you would be able to extend a further 60 days with the reason ‘visiting Thai family/ wife’.
Lloyd ********
when did you last use the 60 day extension?

@Lloyd *******
I used it last year as my last Non -O visa ran out. The end date would have been July 8th 2024 when I received my new Non -O.

You can apply in savannakhet 90 days but they ask you for the proof of 400k 2 months on the bank account

or a monthly income of 65,000 thb

No, unfortunately, Savannakhet or any other place no longer accepts in-person applications. All Thai embassies and consulates are now on the eVisa system. You go to one of the neighbouring countries, apply for a visa on the eVisa website using an entry stamp for that country, wait for your visa to be issued, then return to Thailand.

I’m in Thailand though. I can’t apply outside of Loas can I?
Jan ******************
@Karl *******
Yes, the official professing time in Laos is ten working days, but they will issue it within some days if you have all required documentation.

You do the application online and get a reference number and pay the fee in cash at the consulate before they process your visa.

You should still be able to get an extension denied stamp at your immigration and seven additional days to leave the country if you’re short in time.

Thank you. This sounds more positive again. As I mentioned in other comments I will only have seven days to show for my 400k in MY bank account. Should this be okay? This is just for a 90 day Non-O visa so in 90 days after that I can apply at my local immigration office properly.
Jan ******************
@Karl *******
Yes, there’s normally no requirements of seasoning for the initial 90 days visa, only two (sometimes three) months prior to your one year extension of stay.

So, as it is my first time ever to apply for a 90 day visa I should be okay without funds this first and only time? Thanks again in advance.
Ellie *******
@Karl *******
, you need "proof of being inside Laos" to complete the application. Usually, it's an entry stamp to Laos.

how long does this take? Can I apply in country (Loas) and then get my visa within a few days. I have never done this. I have a young son and my wife is pregnant with no family support.

there are many wrong information running; no need 10 days; if you have all documents and proof of funds you can get the visa approval the same day of application or 2 working days; I just did it last month in Savannaketh; it’s very fast for marriage visa; but need to be all ok for documents from the first online submission

needs 10days
