Hello, have any of you ever applied for a stickerless evisa at your home embassy online while you were already in Thailand (on visa excemption or on another visa) and use it later taking a flight to Cambodia and back? Would that work?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the feasibility of applying for a stickerless eVisa at a home country embassy online while physically present in Thailand. Community members clarified that the eVisa application requires proof of not being in Thailand and a plane ticket to Thailand, which typically disqualifies applicants currently in Thailand. While some anecdotal experiences suggested it was possible for a few, the consensus is that applying for a visa from Thailand is generally against the rules. Additionally, users pointed out that visa applications like the O-A visa must be made in one's home country, especially considering embassy closures during holidays.

Just go to Laos and apply for a tourist visa there

you seem to be looking for ways round the system. If the embassy is closed it is closed, end of story. If you are in Thailand you can't apply for a tourist visa. End of story

Actually I am planning to apply for an O-A visa and not looking for a way around the system but rather for a solution for my special individual situation. But thank you for your answer anyway.

you can only apply for an OA visa in your home country. Apply before you leave.

Thank you for your answers. So what if I fly back to Europe for just a week at Christmas, when the local embassy is closed for the holidays? I would have to apply for any new visa online well before the holiday period, when I am still in Thailand. Do I actually have to scan ALL the pages in my passport? In this case presenting the ticket would not be a problem.

the application says any page with a stamp from the last 2 years

I’ve seen posts from people that have done this but I think they were the exception rather than the rule. Generally the evisa system will route your application to the embassy/consulate that would deal with it. Without flights from there or pages showing you aren’t in Thailand you probably won’t get away with it. Good luck if trying.

Evisa only changed the method of applying it didn't change the rules. You have to apply to the embassy where you physically are. You can't do that while you're in Thailand.

Part of the application process is showing the pages in your passport and they can see that you're in Thailand.

You also must provide a plane ticket from the country you're applying from to Thailand.

Both of these are ways to disqualify you from applying and you will not receive a refund.

I've seen people do it. As part of the application you have to submit a ticket leaving the US going to Thailand. As long as you make it past that part (refundable ticket?) it doesn't matter where you actually enter from once the visa is issued.
