Greetings,

I am an US citizen living in Chicago. I plan to stay in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa with a 30 day extension. After that I plan to spend time in the Philippines for around 30 days, then return to Thailand. I would like to know what Visa options I can get from the Thai Consulate in Manila? I would like to get another Visa while I am still in Southeast Asia (SEA) instead of returning to the States. Thailand has recently offered a 6 month Multi entry visa, but one of the requirements is that visitors have USD7000 in a bank account, which I don't have because I am a retiree on fixed income. Expenses should not be a big deal once I am in (SEA) as I can draw from that expense. I will have a small amount for emergencies, but not the USD7000 requested by Thai officials.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen planning to stay in Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa with a possible 30-day extension inquired about visa options at the Thai consulate in Manila after visiting the Philippines. The community advised that they should be able to get another single-entry tourist visa from the Thai consulate. However, only residents of the Philippines can apply for a multiple-entry visa. The required documents and procedures were shared via links to the Thai embassy's resources.

You can only get a single entry visa from Manila. Only residents of the Philippines can get a metv in the Philippines.

an SETV should be good enough for my purposes. I have no intentions to travel outside of Thailand for the duration of both my stays in LOS. I plan to use my time in the Philippines as a relatively short time recovery period as I have a caretaker with a home in the Philippines that has given me permission to stay in their home when i am in the area.

- I plan to set aside a "small" amount for health concerns. In the past I have not done so. I also intend to have money saved for emergencies, just not the requested USD7K in the scheduled time I plan to travel.

do you have a Health Insurance which covers your travels abroad? If you need hospitalization even for a minor accident, a hospital stay can set you short of a high amount of $$$. As you state you don't have any savings, such an accident would ruin you. I always warn young people not to travel to Thailand without a travel insurance (which can be had for a small fee) but this is the first time I am warning an "experienced" pensioner
