Can expats in Thailand receive booster vaccinations like AstraZeneca or Pfizer before returning to the UK?

Ok folks. So it's looking likely that a booster dose is going to be required when returning to the uk and maybe throughout Europe. Has anyone not resident in Thailand managed to get a approved vaccine? What do you think the chances are of being able to get a booster of astrazeneca or Pfizer before February? Any advice would be useful.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the challenges expats in Thailand face regarding obtaining booster vaccine doses, specifically AstraZeneca or Pfizer, in light of potential new UK travel requirements. There is uncertainty about whether boosters will be required for re-entry to the UK and if expats can access these vaccines in Thailand. Comments highlight varying situations regarding vaccine availability and the current UK requirements for returning travelers.

Uk govt site says double jabbed and a booked day 2 covid test is whats required to enter UK without quarantine.

A booster shot will be the same as the previous shot as there is no time to do lab research for any varient. So this will lower ones immune system even further. (Factual information from lab test results in United Kingdom.)

I guess I meant Steve. I'm not a vac.s fan. With a 99% survival rate, your natural immune system is what should be protected

Boost the immune system not lower it. The clue's in the name. Do you actually know how vaccines work?

you need vaccine to avoid quarantine. Currently all that's required is double jabbed and your booked covid test.

I've no idea what boris will decide in a few weeks. Meanwhile our nhs covid pass for travel is valid 1 month. You need to log in to the app to reactivate it for a further 30 days if you need it.

So where do you get your booster if you've been double jabbed but currently arent in the UK? They surely cant start quarantine for peeps double jabbed

theres been no decision on requiring proof of booster for travel as far as I know. I got my 2 AstraZeneca jabs, and have just been Pfizer booster jabbed but was told I could not have any "proof" of it in a document prior to travel.

I flew in to usa a week ago, return to uk in 2 weeks. I have no proof of booster because uk/nhs do not provide one. I did try to obtain one and was told NO. So not sure how a document can be required if not available.

Would Feb be more than 6months since your 2nd jab? That's the criteria for booster jab in UK. the booster programme is moving slowly in uk, it's not even showing yet on covid pass app.

Anthony Parker. Ok, I see the situation you're in. Six months seems to be the timespan, so you'd need another after 22 November, which would see you right for February. So you don't fall into the Moderna date range. Your best approach at this time is to contact a number of the larger hospitals and see if they can accommodate. MedPark might be worth a shot

I don't know anyone still waiting for their first shot. Anyone over 18 is able to walk in now for shots, don't even need appointment in Chiang mai anyway.
