I'm considering getting my Covid 19 booster jab on the same day as I'm flying to Thailand. My only concern is not so much getting a little sick from the jab it's more if I show up in Suvarnabhumi with a fever will they take me away straight away or purely rely on the PCR test that I will get at the Sha+ hotel

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the safety and advisability of receiving a COVID-19 booster vaccination on the same day as flying to Thailand. Concerns include the potential for experiencing a fever after the injection and whether this would affect entry into Thailand. Many comments suggest it's wise to get vaccinated several days before traveling to avoid side effects that could hinder travel. Alternatives, such as getting the booster in Thailand, are also explored, with some commenters emphasizing the availability issues for specific vaccine brands.

I had the same dilemma but my appointment for the booster & flu vax was when I would have been at the airport , I was also concerned that the vax might show up on a PCR test , so called the Nhs vax centre & they said they don’t think so , I’m not taking the chance , can get it once I’m back lol

Leave it until you get back to your home country

I would imagine it’s treated like 2nd dose…..at least 14 days before going to Thailand?

I had the same dilemma with my first jab while you n the UK. In the end I decided not to get it, risk/reward didn’t weigh up.

Ok thanks for the replies. My only option was on same day. But might try to see if I can get a shot of Moderna in Thailand instead.

better chance to win the Thai lottery than finding Moderna in Thailand. Delay your trip and get booster asap.

We have had a booking for Moderna since March. Got a text saying our queue was in a few days. Today the website said nope, we can the vaccine. Luckily we had Pfizer early in the year so this would be a booster.

Pfizer and Astra are the most likely options here

see if you can get it before you go

Don’t do booster jab on the day of traveling., take atleast 5-7 days in advance as u might take 2-3 days to be normal. Don’t take chances, not worth it

Did this last week. Take paracetamol every 5 hours, you can rest on flight and eat and drink properly. You may feel fluish though.

Yes, the fever on arrival wouldn't be great, nor would the combination of jet lag and other possible vaccine side effects. If possible, I would do it a week or at least a few days before you depart

These vaccines are ironic af lol
