Hello everyone, please can you advice

I am South African passport holder on TR 60 day visa (I have also already applied for a 30 day visa extension) I was supposed to convert TR visa to a dependent visa on my husband however his NON-B and work permit took longer than expected. My husband employee has suggested I go to Cambodia and apply for another TR visa and then re-enter Thailand thereafter they will convert mt TR visa to a dependent visa. Will this be okay? how long will the TR visa take in Cambodia ?also I am planning on flying to make things easier.

I don't believe you have to get a tourist visa and as a S/A passport holder you can get a 45 day visa exempt entry just by stamping out of thailand, stamping in and out of another country and then back into thailand (which could be done at a land border crossing) That would give you 45 days and you could extend that for 30 more days for 1900baht giving you 75 days total

As far as getting a tourist visa at the thai consulate in Cambodia that's gonna be a long process 😕 Did you GO to the thai consulate website in Phnom Penh and read the requirements? S/A is a "listed country" 🙁

Hi Todd, firstly thank you so much for your advice and taking the time. One month? okays that's way too long.I am going to take your advice into consideration I do think going to Laos might be a better option and applying for TR visa there (I'm not sure how true this but apparently in order for me to change my visa to a dependent visa I need to have a TR visa and not a visa exemption ) therefore I think applying at the Laos thai embassy might be a better option

You will want to use the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao NOT the one in Vientiane

Vientiane requires a booked appointment, Savannakhet is not, Vientiane has 3 working day processing, Savannakhet is 2,

Requirements for a tourist visa at Vientiane are much more stringent that Savannakhet .

go to the website READ the requirements to apply for a tourist visa at the thai consulate in Savannakhet and then go get one, that's your best option.

I would say your husbands employer is NOT the go to person you think they are telling you to go to Phnom Penh to get a tourist visa from the thai consulate there 🙁

You could go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and get a tourist visa OR as I said, maybe just a border bounce out and back at a land crossing is the thing you need to do to get the 45 day free visa exempt entry and then get the 30 day extension on that if you need it for 1900baht at the immigration office
