Can you apply for a tr60 visa while not in your home country? I'm currently in India and my evisa gets submitted to the London embassy and they are requesting a flight from the UK to Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot apply for a TR60 visa through the London embassy while located in India. Visa applications must be submitted through the consulate in the country where you are currently residing. If you apply online, you will need to demonstrate proof of travel, such as a flight from your current location to Thailand.

There was a lady posted on here who had problems same situation as you.

To me you have two choices

Go to embassy in India get visa

Do online and get a dummy ticket London to Thailand.

It does seem stupid your visa is valid for 90 days why wouldnt people be travelling to another country first. TIT

So you can't apply when you are outside of your country of permanent residency?

It depends on what the guidelines are for the country you are in. Some let you apply for visas if you are not a permanent resident and some do not. For example if you are in Laos you can apply for a tourist visa to Thailand, but if you are in China you cannot.

Evisa doesn't mean anything, it's just a method of applying, nothing to do with the policies itself.

This is nothing new. It's how visas to every country in the world work. You need to find out if the Thai consulates in India accept non residents to apply and then go and apply if they do.

Will probably just go visa exempt. Too much hassle for an extra 30 days.

Evisa is like normal visa request but online. You have to use the consulate of the country you are in.

So you cannot use the consulate in London if you aren't in the UK, and they will require you to show a flight from where you are applying from to Thailand as proof.
