Hello all. Currently in Thailand on vacation and would like to extend my stay. Iโ€™ve been advised to travel to Cambodia and apply for a 60 day TR. Iโ€™m Canadian.

My querying ares these:

1. How many days does it generally take to process this type of visa?

2. Can I get ahead of this by applying online? Or would that mean I could only pick uo the visa in person in Canada?

3. What is accepted as proof of money in the bank account?

4. Will this automatically be rejected by the Thai Embassy in Phnom Phen if I am coming from Thailand to Cambodia and then back to Thailand?

5. Am I better off using a visa agent? Or doing this in Laos instead of Cambodia?

The photo attached shows the Thai Embassy requirements. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian traveler in Thailand seeks to extend their stay by applying for a 60-day tourist visa (TR) in Cambodia. They ask about processing times, online application possibilities, required proof of financial means, potential rejection due to current stay, and the option of using a visa agent. Responses indicate that visa processing typically takes 3 working days in-person at the Cambodian embassy. Online applications are unavailable; applicants must be in their home country for eVisa processing. For financial proof, a recent bank statement showing at least 20,000 baht is sufficient. Applying in Laos is deemed easier and quicker, though returning from Thailand to Cambodia won't result in automatic rejection. Comments advise against using agents and emphasize the feasibility of handling the process independently.

Whatโ€™s interesting is my wife and daughter just got their 60 day tourist e-visa from the Washington DC Thai embassy. They did not require any documentation of money this time. Strange

Sorry, but I have deleted a comment and booted the member who posted it. It was too blatant a rule breaker !

THIS forum is a How to get the Thai Visa or extension of stay BY YOURSELF.

The mention of any other way is forbidden.

THANK YOU for following forum rules.

Did this recently. So easy at the embassy in Phnom Penh. As Tod says allow the 3 working days as long as you have the paperwork all correct which is straight forward and easy. Donโ€™t pay for an agent.

youโ€™ll pop back 3 days later (between 3-4 is the only time allowed to pick up the passport with the visa) so unless you have a late flight youโ€™ll need to stay in your hotel that night too!!

Yes. I lived in Cambodia before moving to Thailand, so I did my ED app from Cambodia. The embassy was super easy to deal with, got it done within the promised timeline. But your drop off hours are mornings & pick up afternoons, so keep that in mind when planning days there. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just did my TR at Laos Suvanakhet, on day 1, I have to leave my passport at the embassy with other information.

On day 2, I got it back with TR visa.

As long as the information are there, I donโ€™t think they will reject for TR. In my case, I have to be there in person.

For bank statement, as long as ur bank statement has equal or more than 20,000 baht will be okay.

They wonโ€™t reject u for going out and coming in immediately.

I went to do with agent because I didnโ€™t know what to do in Laos. But from my trip, as long as u know the location for ur meal and stay, itโ€™s okay to do it by urself.

No, you apply in person the thai consulate in cambodia is not on the eVisa system.

You have to be IN your country (canada) to use the evisa system back there and you have to show a ticket from canada to thailand

You are far from the first person to go there to get a tourist visa and come right back to thailand, they won't care in the least

By agent I assume you mean someone there in Phnom Penh that 'pushes paper' (helps people get the visas)

Wouldn't even try it, you either meet the requirements and get the visa or you don't, an agent isn't gonna make a difference

That would be a possibility, go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and apply, they have only a one business day processing time,

You don't say where you are in thailand, but there are services that take people to the thai consulate in Lao; they don't help you get the visa you meet the requirements on your own) but they do take you there, get you to the consulate, provide hotel, meals, and bring you back
