Hello,

As a Dutch citizen, could I visit Thailand for two weeks, then spend one week in Vietnam ( I will apply E-visa for Vietnam), and return for another two weeks in Thailand without any hassle?

I plan to fly from Chiang Mai to HCMC and purchase all tickets before takeoff. I will depart and return from Amsterdam.

Please let me know if I would need to apply for a Thai visa. Your advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bert

TLDR : Answer Summary
Bert, a Dutch citizen, inquires if he can visit Thailand for two weeks, travel to Vietnam for one week, and return to Thailand for an additional two weeks without needing a visa. Community responses indicate that he can enter Thailand without a visa under the visa exemption program for 30 days, provided he maintains a reasonable travel history. Furthermore, regarding Vietnam, it was clarified that Dutch citizens now require an E-visa for stays, despite some confusion regarding visa-free entry durations between different nationalities.

I thought EU could stay in Vietnam visa free if less than 45 days

Anyway, I'd recommend you go to Bali or Kuala Lumpur instead, much better

wrong answer. Dutch citizens will not get a VOA anymore when arriving in Vietnam. They have to obtain an E-Visa for Vietnam which is good for 90 days

Yes your plans should have no issue as long as you don’t have an extensive history of previous visits to Thailand. You don’t need a visa, you’ll be stamped in for a visa exempt entry for 30 days on entry.

As a USA passport holder. I have visited Bangkok 7 times this year. The 8th trip is coming up. My travel plans are always laid out clearly. I always have return flight booking, reentry visa to Vietnam, paid hotel booking,. I have never deviated from my plans and have never stayed more than 5 days. Should I be prepared for problems because of "extensive history of previous vists"?

Not if they’re not back to back entries where the immigration may suspect you’re trying to stay (or work) on short term visas.
