Hi! I'll be traveling for 3 months in Southeast-Asia this summer, and i want to travel Thailand for 60 days. I just discovered that i'm eligible for visa exemption, which allows me to travel Thailand for 30 days visa-free. So now i'm wondering;

Can i go to Thailand, travel there for the 30 days my Visa exemption allows me to, then fly to Vietnam to travel there for 2-3 weeks, will i then after Vietnam be able to fly back to Thailand to travel for another 30 days? Or do i have to wait a specific amount of time before i can use my Visa exemption in Thailand again?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to enter Thailand under a visa exemption for 30 days, travel to Vietnam for 2-3 weeks, and then return to Thailand for another 30 days. Comments indicate that there's no strict time requirement for re-entering Thailand on a visa exemption, but re-entry is subject to the discretion of the immigration officer. Users also mentioned the need for a Thailand Pass for each entry and that it's possible to extend the 30-day visa exemption by an additional 30 days without leaving the country. The Thai government may drop the Thailand Pass requirement in the near future.

The government has suggested they'll drop the ThaiPass requirement in July. People are pushing for sooner. Nobody knows now what will be required months from now.

Remember if you leave Thailand and return you still need to do a Thailand Pass (TP) on your return

Do you know you can extend your 30 days visa exempt for another 30 days without the need to leave the country?

i do, but if i leave the country and return with a visa exemption, i can save myself the cost of extending my visa. Or do i also have to pay to get into Thailand, regardless of a visa exemption?

I was planning to go to both Thailand and Vietnam anyway, so if i plan it smartly i could save myself that $60 on visa costs

Ah okay thank you. I guess i’ll just wait and see if test&go gets scrapped first. Otherwise leaving thailand and coming back 2 weeks later wouldn’t really make much sense😅

each visa exempt entry is free of charge. An extension would cost 1900 Baht.

you don’t need to pay to enter if coming visa exempt.

If the rules stay the same as now you’d need a ThailandPass for each entry.

There is no set time you have to have left Thailand to reenter on an exempt entry. However it’s up to the immigration officer. If they think your trying to buck the system they can refuse entry.

Almost certainly with just two entries you won’t have an issue, but there is no guarantee.
