TLDR : Answer Summary
Users have reported varied experiences with delays in Wise payments, often noting that while transfers are typically quick, recent experiences indicate potential hold-ups. Reasons for delays can include the payment type selected (e.g., 'Long Stay' leading to longer processing times due to international routing), issues with new recipients, and banking problems in Thailand affecting multiple users. Some have experienced significant delays (up to several hours) while others report their payments are received almost instantly. Factors such as weekends, the amount being transferred, and specific banking institutions can also impact the speed of these transfers.

The weekend is always slow for me. Seems like my bank probably has to approve it in some way(?)

Normally instant for me but took 5 minutes yesterday.

Yes

I sent money from UK to buy a new car and it took 10WD to arrive. No satisfactory reason given by wise (plenty of unsatisfactory reasons given though)

Then one of the payments for my house was returned to UK bank by Wise. Two equal payments sent one after the other 1 arrived 1 didn't.

I no longer use them, too unreliable

Take longer since 2 month ago if amount above 30.000 bht,

About 4 working today (using transfer option not CB option might be faster but more expensive fees)

I try a small amout 100€ was transferred immediatly

When I send money to my own bank account it takes 24 hours. If I send money to anyone else it takes seconds.

I tried 3 times today, get to the stage of debit card entered then the system spins,does not move forwards, so I cancelled, try another day… Long term stay was my option, normally transfer done in minutes, first issue in 4 years..

Thai banks have been absolute pants the past 2 days. Multiple times myself and my partner couldn’t use our banking apps and were with different banks. Maybe that has something to do with it 🤷🏼‍♀️

We went to pay a restaurant bill and 3 different banks didn't work. Luckily we had cash for once :)

Typically takes 2-4 days for me. But I don't use it for speed. It works differently than places like Western Union. Wise matches transactions in your country with transactions in whatever country you're sending to. Sometimes that takes time.

I had a short delay today usually just minutes but today nearly 3 hours.. still not complaining though I'm very happy with the service I get from Wise and have used them for close on 7 years now.

I’ve recently found it takes longer when sending money to a new recipient but otherwise very fast.

Had a delay today only. It stated 3 hours but went through in 4 hours. Normally is 5 seconds!

I found when I put reason for transfer “for long stay” it began to take longer. When I did it last time I put “living expenses” it came in seconds like before.

@Rick ********
The Long Stay option will often take longer because it's the one which gets noted as an international transfer so Wise has to ensure it goes directly into Bangkok Bank or Kasikorn Bank (whichever you nominate) and not through an intermediary bank. This process always adds a bit of time. I did one yesterday at 15:00 and it was deposited into my BB account at 10:00 this morning, so almost 24 hours

@Roberto ********
ok makes sense because I did it because it was said that’s how to show a monthly deposit for visa.

@Rick ********
That's correct. If you don't need to show your transfer as being international you're better to select Living Expenses as the payment will be routed through the most accessible bank and will (usually) be faster

I sent some last night took about 2 seconds

I used to use wise; but, I now find WU much easier and faster to work with. Good exchange rate as well.

@Richard *****
you stick to the WU exchange rates and fees 💪🏼 until you wake up and start comparing and realising how much you are getting ripped off.

@Richard *****
Wise is much faster than WESU and much better exchange rate.

@Mick ********
100% - until someone can show me a better service for speed and exchange rates I will stick with Wise.
