Have a thai half brother and thai step-parent in Thailand. Going to attempt a family visa. Do you know if they are granting multi entry? Or are they limiting to single entry?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the current status of family visas and multi-entry options for foreigners in Thailand. It reveals that family visas based on half-Thai siblings or step-parents are not typically granted, especially under Non-O visa categories. Comments indicate that many embassies, particularly in the UK, have shifted to issuing single-entry visas only, with some also providing multi-entry options for specific circumstances. The visibility of COVID-19 related restrictions is acknowledged, emphasizing that travelers should prepare for single-entry visas unless specified otherwise by the issuing embassy.

They grant tourist visas now! For 60 days but you can extend for 30 days more. Or STV visa depending on your country can last up to 9 months.

I have a thai brother...family visas only work with spouses or children...you probably wont get one. I was told as an adult blood sister i dont qualify...unless for some reason yiu can provide them with papers saying you have guardianship
Tom ********
You can pay for multi entry good for one year. I got mine and passport stamped good for 90 days.
Hugh ********
Multi entry hahahaha erm probably not from the top of my head lol

@Hugh *******
Some Embassys/Consulates stopped issuing multi entry Non Imm visas but you can still get them from quite a few.
Steve *******
Many Embassys/Consulates dont issue the Non Imm O multi entry visa anymore but you can get a 90 day single entry based on dependancy and enter the country.
James *******
multi entry is fine now.
Steve *******
@James ******
Depends on the Embassy/Consulate. Multi entry Non Imm O visas based on dependancy arent issued in the UK anymore, only single entry.
Terry ********
@Steve ******
They are now. Single entry and multiple entry O available now in the UK based on Retirement. No strings attached.
Steve *******
@Terry *******
Only the Non imm OA, not the O based on dependancy or marriage

It’s only single entry tourist visa from Vientiane Laos, Thai embassy also..
Kool *******
Only single entry, because of the quarantine restrictions, and fit to fly certificates, insurance, and covid-19 tests right before entry, but, they will issue you repeat single entry visas, if you leave and want to come back. You simply have to do everything again, with no exceptions.

Depends on which country your applying from..

If you are
***
Thai and can legally document it - you should apply for Thai citizenship and get dual citizenship. From that point on everything will be much easier. You probably know this but spouse and/or child relationship is the only relationship that will get you any sort of "family" visa
Chan ****
@Mi ******
, family visas are only issued when you have Thai family dependent. So, even a divorced foreigner with an adult Thai child cannot get such a visa.
Bobby ********
Why do you need multi-entry?

Also doing the COE, fit to fly covid and Quarantine everytime

. I'm not sure how a multi-entry will help you? You intend to leave and come back again?

maybe I am confused about the visa? Single entry family visa is 90 day. Is multi entry 90 day×4?
Steve *******
@Mi ******
With the multi entry visa you have to leave the country after 90 days or apply for an extention of stay.
Rima ****************
@Steve ******
and you have to quarantine every time you come back
Steve *******
@Rima ***************
Yes, at the moment you would have to. Who knows in 90 days time.
Rima ****************
@Steve ******
who knows yes but honestly I don't think the vaccine in 9å days have changed that much to make Thailand life it. Thailand won't lift it before!!
Bobby ********
@Mi ******
. Multi entry means you can re-enter during the validity period, usually facilitated with border bouncing, which is not possible at this time. I'm thinking your best approach if you want six months is probably the STV? Alternatively, you could get an in country extension on visiting family, but a single entry would suffice for that as you're not leaving and re-entering

> Going to attempt a family visa.

They do not grant Non-O visas based on visiting half-Thai brothers or Thai step parents; pre COVID-19 or now.

Could not get multiple entry for anything in July when I came through from almost all embassies except Canberra for some odd reason.

@Rima ***************
why am i not surprised TIT

@Michael *******
before only 5 types of visas could enter, now 12 including tourist and some of them also multiple entry but that's stupid you have to quaratnine everytime! Just get one visa and change it there... I got a working visa will simply extend it...
Michael ********
@Rima ***************
yes they could do with a management company coming in and stream lining the whole immigration process.

Problem is there is probably some smart guys in immigration but if there boss says do this do that they just do it to save face.

Just did my one year visa in country and there is so many ways they could make the process easier.
Rima ****************
@Michael *******
in which way?
Michael ********
@Rima ***************
lots.

First one i noticed was multiple different forms about different conditions of visa. That could be just one standard terms and conditions
Rima ****************
@Michael *******
rumours just say they want to get rid of STV visa by bringing back tourist visa. but it's genius if their economy is crashing wtf! Let people in long term, without leaving not bringing the virus, spend their money...

STV could be for up to 9 months.

tourist visa 3 months
Rima ****************
@Michael *******
even making the STV visa for people from lowrisk and they quarantine anyways what's the point? Then they make a TR visa for everyone? What's the logic.... Yes they brought back the tourist visa this month
