Am I approved for a COE if the Thai embassy has requested my passport and a money order?

Hi, folks.

I did the online application that I thought was for both a TR visa and a COE. I was asked to upload flight booking, ASQ booking, insurance, etc.

I subsequently received an email asking me to postal mail my passport, a $40 money order, passport photos and print copies of all my documents.

I did. Waiting on a response.

Does asking for my passport and a money order mean I’m approved for a COE? Or will there be subsequent steps? I’m on pins and needles here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discussion revolves around the process of applying for a Thai visa and the Certificate of Entry (COE). The original poster is unsure if requesting their passport and a money order indicates approval for the COE. Community members explain that the visa and COE applications may be processed together but are distinct; final approval for the COE comes after returning the passport with the visa. Once the passport is returned, they will receive instructions to complete the COE application, which has a separate process for approval.

LA consulate.

I did my visa first...a month before flight.

I applied for my COE about a week before flight.

Then have to do covid test to apply and get f2f 72 hours before flight.

In my case, I sent all my documents' soft copy to embassy first to ask if I am eligible for visa. They told me to send all papers including passport. I did through DHL (as it was from another country). The next day, they call me and asked me for the $40 deposit. One the deposit is done online, immediately they released my passport stamped with visa and a COE letter. For you case, I guess you visa and COE is approved alteady.

Are you in the US? If so then yes, the application for the Visa and COE is together and on the Washington DC embassy page. Its different than what the rest of the world uses. And what you are describing is the process. You fill out all the online stuff and upload the documents. You then get a email to mail in the passport and documents. Once you get the passport back with the visa you will get an email with a link asking to update your COE application. Once that is done you will get the COE approval. Depending on when your flight is they may wait until it is a little closer to your departure date

COE does NOT need a fit-to-fly certificate. You get the FTF within 72hrs of your flight.

The COE is separate from the visa. After you get your passport back, you can apply for the COE. It's online and they email you the COE though, within 24 hours.

Make sure you send flowers. Best flowers store I’ve used for years is GoGo Florist. Don’t use Forever Florist.

I was emailed my COE before my passport was returned. Hope you placed tracking on returned preposted envelope. Important.

San Francisco. Via Doha on Qatar.

I treated myself to a Q Suite—it looks pretty comfortable.

Ironically, I already have a biz class ticket on EVA, but Taiwan closed again.

I’ve been stuck in the US for a year. I was on my way from Chiang Mai to Lima when the borders closed in both directions.

I sure miss my family.

understand. I haven’t seen my family in over a year. Been working in Guam and Saipan last 2 years. Typically travel thru Manila but after filing for COE and doing Covid test, all US passport holders thru the Philippines were canceled. Had to fly to HNL to SFO back to Seoul to BKK. 2 full days and nights of travel and layovers. In between , had to get a new approval for COE. Very complicated since they need 5 business days to reap prove and Martin’s tin Luther King day fell in there to boot. Wow, so hang in there. You live in Chiang Mai? I live in Korat

Yeah, seven years in CM, a year in Bangkok before that.

My fifth wedding anniversary is this week.

I’m not gonna be there.

But hopefully soon.

just had my 5 year last august. Was not there either. 10 years with my wife and never away longer than 3-4 months. My trip from Guam thru Manila is usually 9 hrs but Covid killed that. My wife picks me up In a few days. You will get there soon and be back in the saddle. Sounds like you are doing it right to be comfortable. We also lived in Bangkok the first year together (Thonglor) while I took some Thai language tutoring. Been traveling to Thailand for 20 years. Grew up in Orange County, 25 years in San Diego w a small horse ranch. Hang in there.

My husband and I have been together for nine years, married for five.

We had to go to South Africa to get married. It was the only country in the world that had same-sex marriage and would admit a Thai.

My own country would not.

If Afan were female, I’d have been home a long time ago. Sadly, our marriage is not recognized in Thailand.

I’m from a small mountain town in Northern California. Nevada City.

Beautiful place.

correct, my same experience a few weeks ago. Now in BKK quarantine. Don’t worry Garrett, sounds like you’re in. It will come in time. Make sure you get your COVID-19 test results no more than 72 hrs before departing.

I did not need my fit to fly certificate to get my COE, it was asked for when boarding

I won’t get a Fit to Fly until two days before my flight.

I hope they move fast.

@Ri**
I stand corrected, you don't need a F2F cert for the COE.
