I would be greatful if anyone could give me any info on this. I am a UK passport holder resident in England. Currently in Colombia but will be flying back to Thailand from either Mexico City or Miami. I know I have to apply for my COE in country of departure, but are there any regulations in place to say how long you need to be in that country before you apply. E mailed both embassies already but no replies as yet.

Had conflicting info on various forums,anyone here actually got a COE from a country they were not resident in ??

Thank You

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder currently traveling in Colombia, seeking to fly back to Thailand from Mexico City or Miami, inquires about the Certificate of Entry (COE) application process while not residing in the country from which they are applying. They note conflicting information from various forums and have reached out to embassies without receiving replies. Key insights from community members indicate that as of October 1st, any country is eligible for the sandbox without requiring a 21-day prior residency, and that the COE must be applied for from the country currently being visited, not necessarily oneโ€™s country of residence.

columbia > Mexico > Florida. Might want to edit that and just leave it as you are from the UK.

You haven't said which visa you'll be entering on

Doesn't matter

Garrett Greenwald. Some visas you have to apply from your own country of residence.

Has nothing to do with his question though. he's asking about the 21 day requirement of being in an approved country before entering Phuket. That was dropped Oct 1st.

Bobby Howard gave a correct answer... Why belabour it?

I didn't say he was wrong, just not a need to complicate a simple question, in my opinion.

Garrett Greenwald. Agree with what you say, but I always like to get all the details. Sadly, there's a lot of people again enquiring about the relaunched STV, and if someone raises it, I do like to point out the pitfalls. Fortunately this guy is getting the standard TR, so yes, he's got nothing to be concerned about.

I am a UK resident, I tried to get a COE out of country. Residency is misleading. It actually is the country you are in that you need to apply from. I was in New Caledonia and as it is a French Colony I had to apply through Paris. Hope this helps.

I was there for five months so unsure on that. Wasted a lot of time applying to the wrong places. (UK and Canberra) finally when I got the right place it went fast. Wish you good luck Damian.

As of October 1st, all countries are eligible for the sandbox so you don't need to be in an approved country for 21 days prior.

@Dam***
If you're going from Miami to Phuket I'd use the Washington DC embassy.

Thank You. Thats a relief. Appreciate the help. ๐Ÿ‘

@Dam***
Don't even need to be in the country to apply for the COE. Just apply for it with the embassy you'll be flying out from.
