TLDR : Answer Summary
There are mixed answers regarding whether the Certificate of Entry (COE) can be approved before obtaining a visa for Thailand. Some users mention that you typically need to submit your visa to get the COE, while others state that both can be processed simultaneously. It is important to note that immigration processes might vary by office and that individual experiences can differ.

Luckily it can be done at the same time, but do check, because each office will/could do things slightly different

Like everything to do with immigration law (worldwide) there is latitude for each office, consulate or embassy to do things their way. Whether the visa or CoE is processed first or second what does it matter?

as you can see from the replies there are definitely discrepancies. A friend of mine was issued his CoE and visa at the same time.

Cheers lads

Sent visa by post but I'm over seas so guess it's going to take a while

Filled in and submitted documents for COE and the got to the part to upload flight and ASQ

For the visa part I just submitted a copy of the evisa application with the paid and completed sign below the bar code

Though I might have been knocked straight back but like I say I got to the next part and uploaded flight details and ASQ

Let's see

No you have to send off a copy of visa to get the COE. And the COEwill have your flight no on it and hotel booking

wrong they dont issue visa until you get COE. I picked up COE at 10 in morning handed passport in and issued visa in about 15 minutes. They had already checked paperwork was ok for visa but dont issue until COE approved

both wrong then. It must depend on specific embassy as normal TIT different rules apply and the only way to be sure is to check your local embassy not facebook
