Question about TR visa: i applied last week and in the midst of that there is a new rule 56 countries are visa exempt and im from one of these countries. Should i wait for visa approval (my passport is with the consular) or should i just apply for COE even before the visa is approve and my passport returned? Thanks! #visahelp #touristvisa

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the implications of a new rule granting visa exemptions to 56 countries while they await approval for their TR visa. They asked whether to wait for the visa approval and passport return or to apply for a Certificate of Entry (COE) in the meantime. Responses clarified the differences between visa stays and visa-exempt stays, suggested that one could start the COE application process without the visa, and shared concerns about document timing due to travel deadlines.

My documents and everything was lodged and sent in on the 14th when this new change came about I am still waiting for my documents to come back and my flight is on the 31 which means I need my documents back at least before the 27th fingers crossed they come this week

You can register for your COE and upload some of all documents except Visa. You will get a message that it isn’t approved. Don’t worry. As soon as you get your passport- take a photo of your Visa and upload to the COE- wait for approval- then you can upload your ASQ and flight.

A visa lets you stay for 60 days. A visa exempt lets you stay for only 30 days. Both can be extended by another 30 days for 1,900 THB at your local immigration office.
