So they don't want me to work while I'm there but I also can't quit my job when I leave? How does that make sense?

Yes, it's just frustrating that I need to furnish proof that I am financially independent ( bank statement) as well as having a job to return to. I get they want me to return to the US but most legit jobs in US don't allow 6 month vacations...
