I had the same issue when applying in the UK. I scanned my passport and the online system accepted it. On to the next page and “autofill” filled a section. Unbeknown to me, it had also changed the name on the passport that had already scanned successfully. I submitted my application without knowing this had occurred.
A few days later I was informed and told the application could not be altered and I would need to apply all over again including paying the fee again.
