, we had a friend go and ask immigration, seems like there is a possibility that they may allow the change because of the current amnesty situation, but it's not officially part of their policy even now and could change at anytime. We did also confirm that changing to volunteering long term is an option, so will be looking into that as a back up. Thanks again for the clarification and advice.
We are actually already enrolled in a school and were planning to get the 90 day ED to come in but when we asked our consulate they said that ED visas for language schools are not eligible to apply for COE right now. They also said that because our son's ED visa is eligible they can grant us both non-O visas so we can apply for the COE and be approved to enter.
I assume it is still not possible to change visa types from inside the country even with the current situation with the borders. If we do come in on the Non-O are there other options to get an extension? Would volunteering work?
