Suvarnabhumi : one mate got pulled over with his Thaï GF and baby because a Background of Visa Run / TR / ED... on their way back to Thailand from Europe... After a rude and extensive interview and phone call between 2 immigration offices they had no choice to let him in since he is a father of a Thai child under Thai child Visa. But they seemed to be so frustrated lol. Another mate get grilled after long stay before pandemic as a tourist. They asked him what he does for a living. He was a Digital nomad but also told them that his family have lot of property in Canada and he didn't really need to work. They even get more frustrated about that money topic. I guess an IO is probably around 15K a month lol. But finally they let him in. Today he run a successful company in Thailand in one of the best office in Bangkok. Another mate was working for a company in Thailand with a Work-Permit. Due to the company legal structure (i believe depend of capital amount ) he had to do a border bounce every 3 months. Immigration grilled him but found nothing wrong and they let him in. They was frustrated as well. Phuket : One mate get grilled for too many arrival by air from France and they asked him if he own any business on the island without proper ownership. He own a company in France and like to have long stay holiday here. No visa run. They finally let him in. Then a guy from a UK i didn't know well last September get arrested at Phuket airport back from KL for too many visa and TR exemption. They felt that he run a physical business without right ownership in Phuket (it was apparently true, everything under his wife) they put him in a cell before deport him back to KL. Just to say that, DMK / BKK / PHK it's all the same regarding long stay.

Listen. Thai IO can't state how many entry you can get in a year by air. Due to my experience i wrote at the bottom of this post, they couldnt answer that question, just now it is not allowed more than 2 entry by land by years or 180 days by years. At first this limit was mainly enforced from Thai embassy and consulate in Europe where you could be in trouble when asking another TR visa after had spend 6 months in Thailand. By exemple, Thai embassy in Paris was strict about it and we even suspect them to communicate some informations to the French Authorities (tax purposes and other stuff). Also of course more paperwork. Also moving to Paris was a big pain in the ass just for that visa. So most of people moved to Thailand without visa then apply for an extension or a visa in a neightbor country. And the 180 days rules in ASEAN embassies wasn't much enforced, and their IT system wasn't well connected prior to 2017, im not gonna elaborate on this... But i have seen many friends cases proving that. But right now they do enforce the 180 days rules and seem to have set an Alert in their system since the pandemic ended.

To the keyboard boomer warriors here. I'm not really complaining with this post regarding the visa rules since they do their job, and i even find interesting somehow they acknowledge that their system doesn't fit for a lot of us. What i point is their constant arrogance and rudeness especially when you are polite, cooperative and have nothing to hide, even prior pandemic. Each visit at immigration is pain in the ass, whatever how clean is your background and how correctly you filled the form, they all seem frustrated and grumpy and need to show their power as we all know. I started to get use to it. That's why agents still here. Also don't forget that during the pandemic we could not jump on ED visa as i wanted. Many people couldn't even renew their non-immigrant visa, some had nothing left in their home country, some was working offshore, whatever it was tons of reasons to be stuck between all of this. And even we know it all that Thai authority just tolerate us on their ground, they got good benefit of us in the domestic tourism and local economy. Don't get me wrong, im not asking any privilege but RESPECT when i cooperate and i polite. It's sad they need to lose face after being stubborn and rude to finally calm down. TIT.

Here my experience : Like many others the pandemic fucked my plan. I arrived in Thailand just before the pandemic and back to travel to Europe few weeks before get back to Thailand in May 2021. It mean use of Covid extensions. At that time it was nearly impossible to jump to a proper ED visa. At the end of Covid extension program in September i had to fly to Kuala Lumpur. Due to a last minute visit of a relative in Thailand i didn’t see for so long I didn’t took time to do a TR visa since on that time it would take a week (my bad, but whatever TR visa or not it would be the same trouble I guess ) and back to TH by Suvanarbhumi after a 3 days week end in KL. IO at counter get an alert on his screen then check every page on passport (passport was new since February). And yell at me “what are you doing in Thailand ? 😡😡😡!” Before push the button of the red beacon🚨Another IO took me to the desk. He leading a very rude interview and none of my honest and polite answers satisfied him. He pretended that i had no money, (never asked me proof of fund) probably working illegally, and couldn’t afford to back to my country 🇫🇷 (I was dress properly) I told him that i had online income + use to work FIFO in mining in Australia (to justify my imi background prior pandemic) He denied it all and keep saying I’m Farang without money. I felt insulted, slammed my phone on desk. Opened the photo gallery and show him all my life full of not cheap holidays all over Thailand with my Thai GF and friends and shoot at him “do you think if I was working for a company in your country I would have the same lifestyle ?” I respect you want me to get a visa but I’m felt insulted after tons of money I spend in your country during that pandemic. He had a document beside him, and start to threat me that airasia would sent me back to KL. I tell him to please deport me back to France and I will be happy to pay for it since i don’t want anymore to hear from him such BS after i being cooperative and respectful till now. He kinda lose face and asked to talk to my Thai GF. For some reason he was probably think she was a ******. He asked her occupation (nice background in hospitality industry), where we was living (adress given match my record for the last 2 years on 90 days report) and what was my lifestyle in Thailand. All matched together. He then shoot at me if I’m not a cheap Charly why I would not do an Elite visa ? I answered that I’m not interested since the pandemic even screwed those elite people and all the controversial experience exposed on internet. Also I’m kinda not sure where life will took me in the coming months. He then was proud to push for the new LTR visa as digital nomad. wich is impossible since i don’t work for a big corporation company online and it seems i know the rules better than him. He then calm down and be more relaxed and call the IO boss (a women) where we could negociate. I told him that I’m not sure what does it mean but I’m not gonna give a cents to them and prefer to be deported whatever the consequences are, honor before all. Then the IO boss seem to have enought of foreigner having a Thai GF, on that night they had 10 people grilled with quiet a few saying they had Thai GF here. She asked same details about us and still be rude. I told her again in eyes that I prefer to be deported than play this game. She get puzzled and asked me do you know what is mean ? I said yeah. She then call my GF and asked same details and tell to her that i was crazy to ask to be deported in this situation and it was not the solution. She facepalm many time her face 🤭 and finally tell me ok you first book a flight back to your home country and fill a form with flight information. Then we will discuss later what we do for tonight. They asked me how long I need to manage my things to leave my appartment stuff. I swear few days and I’m out. They look at each other and finally beg me that i should stay longer, it would be fine, like a month by exemple. I told them that they want me to leave and want proof that I willing to leave so why now you want me to stay more and more ? I’m leave in a week No doubt, I just book, look. Period. Then they felt confused. The interesting part was the IO acknowledged that visa’s doesn’t fit well for young people having online income or passive, not willing to marry, and not eligible to LTR. He pushed again for Elite but mention that he don’t know if I could be in trouble or not due to the situation today. He added that they currently crackdown on ED visa + the agency I used (who own that fb group…) is a red flag. He told me that they don’t want anyone more than 180 days in as tourist and I’m fine to back in April. He added that i should be back with a TR visa, and should to think in the future to marry if she is the right one 🤭 He then took me back nicely to the counter, put information of my return flight I booked in computer + all information he got from my GF, stamp me in for 30 days, no weird stamp or annotations in passport. I fly back as promised. Not back yet.
