Obv nothing is certain, I think its a good bet though. They seem to be really prompting Elite visas, and looking at it from their perspective it's a good way to encourage upfront payment.
Honestly, if you can afford it, I'd to for the 20 year. Retirement visa is fine but it comes with all sorts of phaff like 90 day reporting, re-entry permissions and extending it. Elite visa just allows you to come and go as you want, plus you won't have to worry about bridging the 2 years. I don't think Thailand is going to be open for 'regular tourism' for a long time (I'm here now). People are really underestimating how cautious the Thai authorities are being.
sure I understand that. But basically you're paying a bribe to bi-pass the 'normal' system (and how will that work when you have to do 90 day reporting? And you're far away from the place of visa being issued?). Also it could be called out in the future, or it may not.
