I have been going to Savannakhet for years to get my annual marriage visa multi entry marriage visa for 5000 baht without having to show income. I have done this 5 times already over the years. The last time we drove our Ford Ranger accross the border because there was a 4 day holiday. We left my passport at the Thai consulate and drove south to Pakse and spent three days and nights at a wonderful restaurant with a swimming pool. We went to visit the waterfall with the zipline. Other than the huge potholes in the road, the trip was just perfect. Laos was cheaper than Thailand in all ways. The food in the restaurants was great! When we got back to Savanakhept on Monday morning the passport and visa were ready and there was no line. The last visa run was in August 2022. You can get an extra 60 days at the very end by going to your local immigration office for 1900 baht. But for us, it is not worth it. We love visiting and exploring Laos and look forward to returning to Savannakeht and Pakse in August this year. Maybe we will get up the courage to do the zipline this time!
