It doesn’t mean it will continue to work that way for the next 5 years. 🤔 Documents are required when extending or renewing other types of visas. Random immigration checks are conducted at border crossings (not often, but they do happen). Why would the DTV be exempt from this? People need to wait for the first extensions to get an idea, even though everything is subject to change.

No one knows for sure. Those claiming it's a 5-year visa with no documents required for future extensions or entries are certainly mistaken—unless they hold a crystal ball and can read the future.
