Tod and others previously said she’d ‘most likely’ not have a problem getting an SETV in Penang, given her visa history.

Not seeking iron-clad predictions. Just predictive “opinions” given that choices have to be made now.

That said, should she:

1) wait it out in Thailand (for Penang consulate to reopen on
****
)?

2) Do a rush visa run now? (And would it make it harder to do a subsequent SETV)

3) If Penang remains closed past
****
, go to another country (when her Ed Visa ends on April 1) and wait for Penang to reopen?

4) Go to a US consulate (LA) get an SETV there and return (maybe by land border?)

Actually, she’d love to volunteer. The challenge has been finding organizations that will provide visas and work permits to make it all possible. She’s been looking online for opportunities, ideally in or around Bangkok. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. should she ahave any issues entering at land borders after her Ed Visa ends in early April? Or is the 2x per year a given without pushback from immigration?

I successfully received my retirement extension in Bangkok in Dec 2019 using the 65k monthly income method. But make sure your paperwork is in order (especially that your bank statements are labeled "FTT"). In my case, they mislabeled 4 months as domestic transfers, (thanks to Transferwise, the service I used to move money into my Thai bank account) and I had to get documentation from their partner pass-through bank to confirm that all my transfers came from overseas.
