Thanks Andrew. I totally understand that overstaying is normally punishable, but I didn't intentionally overstay. I just didn't get stamped in to Malaysia when I crossed the border, due to a lot of confusion. I was only in Malaysia for about 8-9 days before I realised the error. Plus they fined me the minimum amount but then gave me a ban of 5 years which is completely bizarre. I think it was mostly to deter me from wanting to come back, even though I never plan to
