No one knows truly.. But the expectation is once issued you can come and go for 5 years.

We dont know if or how extensions will happen at 180 days, and we dont know how immigration will look at border bounces or other re-entrys. It 'should' all work out as we hope, but its not certain and a few negative news stories or the usual farangs behaving badly linked to DTV's could cause problems. It feels like theres an undercurrent vibe that this visa is 'too easy' and Thailand is not getting enough out of this class is my personal suspicion.

Obtain a residence paper first. They will want it and having one in hand improves the possibility of yes.

They didnt work in Thailand. Previously to work online you still needed a work permit even if you had no Thai clients, with the DTV that is not the case.

I would get the DTV first.. Once issued you can change jobs or way pof being paid. Your still meeting the requirements if asked.

Anonymous participant No.. You can be a freelancer just as easily on a DTV.

Also you dont have to do this in advance of getting the DTV, the visa and tax offices are not linked to check those elements its about you getting your tax affairs efficiently set up as possible over the long term.

Anonymous participant You can work for non Thai companies and clients from Thailand under the DTV.

You cannot do that legally on a tourist or non imm (but many do).
