Good morning all. I have decided to make the move from the UK and come to join you all ๐Ÿ•ถ๐Ÿ•ถโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘.

I arrive on a 90 day visa in Jan and during this time I am going to apply for my 12 month visa.

I need some advice for the following please. I'm sure someone will have trodden the same path ๐Ÿ˜….

1. I have to open a Thai bank account and deposit 800000thb. It has to be in there for at least 2 months before I can apply for my 12 month visa. The cheapest way I have found so far to transfer the 800000thb will cost ยฃ600 using a transfer company who give me a lesser gbp to thb rate to nake their money. Has anyone found a cheaper way?

2. On the consulate website I can combine my monthly pension income and deposit amount to make up the 800000thb. So for example I could deposit 400000thb and make up the rest with my monthly pension. My pension provider doesn't provide paper payslips. I can show my pension deposits going into my bank account each month. Would this be OK to show the bank/immigration authoritieswhen I apply for my visa?.

3. I'm sure I will love moving to Thailand but just in case how easy is it to move my 800000thb back into my UK account?.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Have a great day.

Can I, as an Australian resident living here now, who has satisfied the Work Life rule, and lived here most my life, apply for the pension and move to Thailand, immediately, without the 2 year portability rule applying to me?

I understand the 2 year rule applies only to former residents?

I am in the process of applying for a non-O Visa (retirement) using the online e-visa web site ([[members only])) .

Based on the comments that I had read in this forum and elsewhere, I was under the impression that it was not required to purchase health insurance for a non-O retirement Visa.

However, as part of the online application I am being requested to submit proof of insurance which meets the following requirement (this is extracted verbatim from the online form) :

**Health Insurance issued by thai insurer with outpatient benefit of not less than 40,000 THB and inpatient benefit of not less than 400,000 THB. The insurance must also cover all medical expenditures including COVID-19 at least USD 100,000 and must cover the whole period of stay in Thailand.

**Does this requirement apply only when requesting the visa outside Thailand? If so, it seems to be reason enough to enter Thailand Visa exempt and then apply for the Non-O Visa from within Thailand.

Notes:

1. I am aware that for the Thai Pass, health insurance providing Covid coverage for 50000 is required.

2. I am planning to purchase a health insurance that covers inpatient care, in order to manage the risk of an expensive hospital bill in the case of serious illness. However, I am not planning to get outpatient coverage, because it really boosts the premiums and is not cost viable, given the cost of basic outpatient care in Thailand.

Hello! Just a quick question about the re-entry stamps.. does one need to get a re-entry stamp from the immigration in the same city that your non-immigrant visa states you work and live in, or can get you get it from any immigration office in the country? Thanks!

Just completed the cancellation of my work permit and extension of stay in Ayuthaya. Not sure if this is applicable to all labour departments, but the process was surprisingly easy. Walked in, told the person at the counter I came for a cancellation and got helped straight away while around 30 mostly Myanmar workers were still waiting with a ticket. Needed to hand in my permit and passport for a copy, and gave them the cancellation form I prefilled in myself (you can also fill it in with the officer on the spot.) The officer DID NOT ask for any documents from the company whatsoever. They even refused company registration certificates, letter of termination and a copy of the directors ID card. It's getting processed as we speak and can pick up the confirmation slip after the lunchbreak. If this process applies to all labour departments it means everyone should be able to cancel their permit without ANY document or signature required by the employer within minutes.
