Good news for expats and digital nomads in Thailand, especially for those who couldn’t open a Thai bank account.

Wise will officially launch its full services in Thailand starting May 19, 2026, and this will clearly make life much easier for many people.

You will be able to top up your Wise account from a Thai bank, pay via PromptPay QR codes like a local account, receive money using your own QR like a local account, and get a Wise card, both digital and physical, in local currency.

In practical terms, this brings Wise much closer to a real local bank account, without the administrative constraints of Thai banks.

For anyone struggling with banks here, this is clearly a major improvement.

Planning to apply for DTV Soft Power (Cooking) towards the end of this month (September) in Vietnam. I have the seasoned funds but currently unemployed.

Which embassy is more friendly these days, Hanoi or HCMC? My plan was to stay in Danang & Hue which fall under HCMC but if Hanoi is better I don't mind going north.

And secondly, do I have to fly from Vietnam to Thailand to 'activate' it, or does it not matter? I need to be in Japan early November so I was planning to fly back to Bangkok from there.

Thank you 🙏🏼

So now, "officially" any income tax on foreign-remitted income will be waived AGAIN. They even plan to apply the new law retroactively, according to this news piece.

Quick question for any UK expat who are receiving state pension in Thailand, is it correct if you ask the UK state pension department to send your pension direct to a Thai bank account, you will lose any uplifts to the UK state pensions in the future.

Hi everyone,

I'm from Philippines and am planning to be in Thailand as a domestic helper because I had hired my employer start 20th January 2025 and i would like to ask, if it's possible to do work as legal process?

Please come with other ideas, that could give us a better journey for my first visiting in Thailand. Anyone that can assist me can DM for more informations about Thailand.

Thank you much for your advise.

U.S. vet here. Does my full-coverage VA healthcare benefits meet the “requirement” for health insurance if I retire in Thailand? If so, how easy or nightmarish is it navigating healthcare thru the VA in Thailand?
